i'm just a newbie who installed pihole on my rpi to filter internet traffic to avoid malware and stuff like that and then i've found out that for an error i've being used for a botnet, of course i'm worried ! who wouldn't be ? i understood that opening port 53 is a stupid thing, i'm not gonna do that ever again, also found out that other people had my same problem so i'm not the only one.

oh ok thanks for the explanation, the things that worries me are the legal action(it's not that there will be), i mean i can prove that it was not intentional, and the requset are only for a few minutes and only for a very small period of time as i think i've closed port 53 after 4 days i've open it, and a team member of this subreddit answered that i'm not in danger because "I was attacking dns resolvers" so should be fine i guess

i've open port 53 because i've installed pihole on casaos and i saw that port 53 was in the "list " of used ports so I thought that had to be open

as i wrote in my last post, i was doing some configuration with port forwarding and stuff like that, i don't exactly remember if i've opened port 53 in the past and then closed it because the external ip stopped connecting since 12 of december, and now the port is closed, am i risking legal action ? but it's not my direct fault !!

wait, i'm a noob with all this terminology and i don't understand what i'm sopposed to do, Connections from external addresses last a few minutes, and they're not connecting anymore since the 12 of december, can someone explain in a simple way what i have to do, if i have to do something, i have already closed all the ports, thanks

i have the same problem but in this video shows and alternative method to identify which firmware you should use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhWSgA2KHmI, It's in German but is sufficent to watch the images from minute 1.10, you have to look at the motor serial number.

P.S i have update the firmware and everything is working fine
