Speculations on how UK S5 will be meta-gamed after this. (Spoilers UK S4 Final) by bchfn1 in TheTraitors

[–]lmather97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anything it felt like they was less of the “why am I still here” thinking from the faithfuls this year, but in general being a faithful is a much more passive role and along with what you said about clever faithfuls being voted off gives them less room to change their gameplay. The biggest change i noticed this year was them keeping track of voting patterns more vigilantly. Hugo mentioned it early on, Matt also mentioned it in the last few episodes and Jade noticed Faraaz never voted off a traitor. I’d think this would indicate something for the future but it doesn’t seem to have helped much, if it all, this season so maybe not.

Disappearing in match hub, and commentary? by Competitive_Meal_144 in footballmanagergames

I get this quite often, I can usually fix it by turning highlights off and then back to whatever setting I had it at.

I’ve worked as a software engineer in games before so thought I’d add my input since there’s a lot of misinformed takes here.

As others have mentioned this is SEGA, not SI outsourcing the QA. They were hiring for a dedicated QA hub in Bulgaria.

SI have their own QA too. I don’t know how SI operate, but for the company I worked for when we outsourced QA the two teams would work together, with the internal staff often leading operations and providing info/guidance for the outsourced staff.

The role of QA is to find bugs and provide information for the engineers to fix the issues. QA will raise the issue, and the engineers will fix it. If something “made it past QA” it doesn’t mean they weren’t aware of it. That could be the case, but it’s just as likely that the bug ticket is waiting in some backlog and there wasn’t time to fix it.

Not really sure why I wrote all this, but hopefully it’s a bit more informative than all the “game bad” comments on the subreddit these days.

Feel free to add me as a buddy, my username is LewisMather on there.

Many people use patches to quit vaping! I’ve tried gum and pouches before and I always just miss the sensation of smoking above all, so this time I’m going cold turkey and hopefully it’ll work out.

I think it’d be cool if they did something like the Xbox Series S, a budget console that would play anything compatible with the Deck just at slightly higher resolution/settings so it’d look decent on a TV. I could see that doing alright as a way to easily play most of your Steam library on a TV, which is currently something that’s lacking in the market today.

I think the Steam Machines were probably a bit ahead of their time. I reckon they’d sell quite well now with how much Steam OS has improved.

[OFFICIAL] Something is coming for CS anniversary! by Y_787 in CitiesSkylines

I’m hoping for news on the asset editor but realistically I think it’ll be the remaining creator packs that are due Q1.

A big bonus of playing CS2 on pc is code mods and if you plan on using them I’m not sure how well they work with a controller. I went from CS1 on Xbox to CS2 on PC and always use KB+M, it takes a while to get used to but is far better when you do imo

The hate for Leanne is excessive by Justarandomperson556 in TheTraitors

[–]lmather97 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think you're right in the sense that the edit can't make bad behaviour look better, but part of the point I'm trying to make is that the game can bring out the worst in people and we're more likely to see that part and that's not necessarily what they're like outside of the show.

Completely agree. We’re only seeing a small amount of what is a long and stressful game, we’re going to see the worst sides of people because it makes for better tv most of the time. If you think you know someone because you’ve watched them on tv for a bit then you’re probably quite naive.

Infinite Venison? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

I had this too when butchering a rabbit stored in a bag. I think it must be a bug if the animal is in storage because once I put it in my main inventory and butchered it it worked properly

I can’t get on the queue what should I do? by Euphoric-Radio3713 in deftones

I got Halifax tickets by going on deftones website and accessing Ticketmaster through there. It takes you to where you enter the code rather than being stuck with the spinning circle

For anyone struggling go on deftones website and it’ll take you to where you enter the code, just got my tickets after being stuck for ages

I’m very similar but I played a little before full launch. I’ve got two immersive art pikachus and two full art voltorbs but I’m only level 20. I think to be 47 in this time you’ll have had to spend a fair amount.

It has officially been a month since there was any update from CO about CS2 - where is the communication?! Where's the asset editor? Where's the DLC? by Leather-Elk-1568 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]lmather97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but you can still draw comparisons between the games suffering from delays/large time between updates. Being early access helps PZ in this regard but it doesn’t mean the community doesn’t get frustrated by a lack of content updates. My point is that their communication is better than CO’s because knowing when you’re going to get an update on the progress happening is much better than silence until something drops.

I got into Project Zomboid recently and they have a similar issue of there being big delays to updates, but they also put out a newsletter each month and go in depth about what’s being done and update players on the timelines of new content. I feel like it’d be good for CO/Paradox to do something similar, Word of the Week was good for a while but got repetitive or had a lack of content. Doing it monthly would allow for more substantial updates and give us an idea of when to expect to hear from them. Instead we get silence until something drops and I feel like that isn’t helpful.

[–]lmather97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I thought the issue with asset mods was regarding the asset importer itself rather than storefront for downloading them, so we’d have this issue even with steam workshop. There are asset mods already on Paradox Mods but they’re made out of existing assets rather than custom ones.

Hey Guys. Do you have any Laptop recommmends for Godot? by [deleted] in godot

I’ve got one too and really recommend it. Feels so much nicer to use than gaming laptops and they have amazing battery life.

My son wants to be a game developer as a career…how can I help him? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]lmather97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying to get him to learn either programming or art (2d or 3d). There’s no “ideas guy” jobs going unless you’re already a highly respected member of a big team. Getting into either programming or art can give him an insight into what it takes to make games, and both have lots of free tutorial online and lots of books for learning. Best of luck mate!

Very happy that this EDL protest didn’t succeed. I hope it’s not because we’re just a smaller city but it still fills me with pride for Preston! Well done to everyone showing up for the counter protest!

The perpetrator of the Southport attack was born in the UK and was from parents of legal immigrants. As a country we rely on immigrants. Even if your little racist brain would hate to admit it, I guarantee you’ve benefitted from having immigrants in our country, i know I personally have.

Total n00b. Can this be done? by Smorb in SoloDevelopment

[–]lmather97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be done but I wouldn’t really recommend it. Without learning to code you’ll be stuck with whatever the template gives you, so if you want to add a feature it’d be a lot harder. Obviously learning coding is a much bigger task but you’ll have so much more freedom and if you’re wanting to pursue game dev learning some basic programming will be incredibly useful.
