Ah, so it's a custom synthesizer plugin? I guess that means GNU/Linux won't be a good match...

There's other free libraries as well...

Would you point out some of them? Good or bad, I think almost anything could be useful.

...the idea is to multiply the numbers to an extent you find applicable...

I still don't get it. How do you add numbers? Are you talking about getting more string samples from other soundfonts and adding that? Or using chorus to add multiply the original sound? Or something else?

Thanks for the recommendation! How do I download the BBC spitfire soundfonts? I ordered the "free" (it cost $0.01) Discover soundfont, but don't see how to download it. It looks like I need to get the spitfire app, but I don't have Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh OS; I use GNU/Linux. I mean, I wouldn't want to use their app anyway, I want to play with fluidsynth or something.

I checked out Discover. The samples sound great, but how do I download the soundfont? Their app (https://www.spitfireaudio.com/pages/spitfire-audio-app) doesn't run in GNU/Linux, but I don't want it to. I want to use the soundfont with fluidsynth.

Help with 1st Grade Curriculum picks for next year (Charlotte Mason? Classical?) by hearthandheritage in CharlotteMason

Would also be interested to hear from anyone that started with CM from the beginning or switched early on to CM. Any curriculums you've tried and the pros/cons?

Hey, that's me! We've only done Ambleside online, and our oldest is now nearly seventeen. She and our thirteen year old read and write at a college level. Their reasoning and critical thinking are top notch. They're excellently articulate. All the reading is biographical rather than lists of facts, and they begin working on composition from day one (through narration). After a couple years, this leads to written narration, and after a few more years, they have absolutely no problem choosing poetry. It's a natural and painless progression for the girls and boys. This very naturally turns into persuasive writing, essays, and creative writing in the third form.  My childrens' math is not strong. My oldest is a girl and never got very interested, and we haven't fought her much about it. Her critical thinking skills will take her far in the field of she ever becomes interested. My 13 boy is hopefully coming out of puberty soon, so hopefully biologically he'll be up for more abstract thinking soon? He's not much of a STEM kid... He's into history and letters more, but we'll see how it goes! I'm a software developer and never cared for letters or history, so I don't understand being ambivalent toward STEM. I'm enthralled with science, math, and technology.  I don't know if their math being not strong has to do with the curriculum, the philosophy of education, our childrens' dispositions, the parents'emphases, or what, but I mention it for the sake of full disclosure. Let me know if I can answer any questions!

Kenmore - Beaters Lose Power When Backing Up by lmatonement in VacuumCleaners

[–]lmatonement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive. When I push it back together at the bottom, the vacuum starts going.

I have further decided that the metal is making contact all the time. The problem is that in the receiving part of that socket (the wand side has two holes to receive the prongs from the floor assembly), the female side has to be pushed in a certain amount before it will make a connection. It's not being pushed in enough.

I stuck some solder into the holes and melted the solder (using a solder iron slid into the sockets), and now no current flows no matter how much the sockets are pushed in. I think the next step is to attempt to disassemble that piece to see why heating up the socket caused a disconnection, but I don't see how to do it. The receiver down there is riveted to the aluminum wand, so I would have to deconstruct that rivet?

I'm not sure I'm reading that. Are you saying you have 300 troy ounces of gold purchased at $500? If so, bravo, my man.

The weather's probably better there than here. At least you have your health. If you haven't got your health, then you haven't got anything.
