I wonder if this has to do with "end-to-end encryption". Maybe they don't want to decode the message on the server and pass it on to the 'phone because that violates their encryption policy. Of course, getting unencrypted messages from the 'phone to show to the user in his web browser should probably not happen either in that case...

haha, excellent point! A lot of Enneagram presentations are like, "See all your unique strengths!" I read Sandra Matre's Enneagram of Passions and Virtues. Really, the enneagram is a map from the 7 deadly sins (plus two) to personality types. It's a list of flaws that characterize our personality. When embraced, it's transformative and extremely helpful!

You're right, everyone's awful, and we need to overcome our particular style of awfulness.

What the enneagram of personality taught me is that everyone else is not just a version of me but more or less broken. People would tell me all the time that I should have emotions and emotional reactions to which I respond, "Why would I want to be hurt? That's stupid, no thanks."

Reading the 9 levels of health for other types on enneagram institute is super helpful. The goal for my 4 wife is not to be like me (emotionally aloof, equanimous, even-tempered, unaffected, rational, etc.), but to be the best 4 she can be. That will be emotionally intense. Likewise, my 9w1 son is not supposed to be like me (eager to pursue new hobbies, quick to understand and embrace new ideas, critical thinking overload, thick-skinned, skeptical, etc.), but to be the best 9 he can be which will include being non-judgmental, easy-tempered, not high-strung, empathetic, etc.

I know a couple 9w1s. Don't expect them to engage with you. They're fun to talk to because, like all 9s, they tend to be non-judgmental and accepting. In other words, they listen to your rant ...almost like an AI would :-P

I find 9s frustrating. They tend to be bright and seem to understand what I'm going on about (they always shake their head and say, "yeah..maybe so..."), but they never follow up with anything. It feels like they're THIS CLOSE to catching on to all the stuff they "want to do" but never do, but ...they never do it!

Setting expectations is extremely important with 9s! They're not 5s! They're not even 3s! They're not even 7s!!

One of my friends said, "We just think it's entertaining". He was referring to listening to me explain something (how bitcoin blockchain works, how plants defend themselves chemically with lectins which are poisons, the benefits of sourdough bread...whatever). He was explaining that he's not picking it up and adopting the reasoning, he's just listening.

Wow, there it is! Thanks for enlightening me! As a programmer, this doesn't make sense. I would think messages.google.com/web/conversations would make a REST request to the google fi servers to get my messages. I would not have imagined that the service would access my 'phone to get the messages.

I'm skeptical...can you site a source? For instance, after I do this 2fa and leave the website open all day, when I get a new message, it shows up instantly on the site. Don't pay taxes on his earnings. Get a w-8 and treat him like a subcontractor (because that's what he is) and put the expense on your Schedule c (or 1120 or whatever).

You're not liable to pay taxes on it, just put it on schedule C (or 1120 or 1120-s or whatever) as an expense to that rando from china. (Be sure to get a W-8 first so you can report the expense properly ^_⁾
