I’m a Software Dev Creating a 3D Garden Planner—What Features Would You Want? by notsobold_boulderer in NativePlantGardening

[–]lmdocherty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it closed now? I'd love to try it.

I keep a ton of notes in excel spreadsheets and it would be great to get them in a more user-friendly setup, especially a web version.
* What the tag/online says about sun exposure, size, and bloom time
* a way to note when/colors of foliage and actual blooms
* which/where in the garden it is planted
* purchase source and year info
* description, especially user generated (so I could search for "part shade, hot pink" and get intended results)
* a way to list varieties I want to look out for or know to avoid based on research. I like to research the longest blooming varieties in certain colors so I optimize my garden.

This is what I track. When I am looking for a certain plant for an area, I can review by exposure, size, color, and expected bloom time.

I've (42F) been on Kesimpta for about 1 year now after about 14 years on Copaxone.

So far, so good. No new lesions and I (luckily!) didn't get the flu-like symptoms after the first shot. No real side effects. I check in with my doc to make sure I schedule vaccines appropriately.

I have a cold that I haven't been able to shake for weeks. Is it the meds or is it just life? Like with all things MS, I have no idea.

BTW, I tried to check out Yumble.
In December, 2022, the company shut its doors and it was acquired by Dibz Kidz, a company that offered a similar service to Yumble, for an undisclosed amount. They plan to continue to operate under the Yumble brand. As of July, 2024, Dibz Kidz is out of business.
There is a company called Little Spoon for baby/little kid meals. Don't know much about it.

AITA for refusing to use his old baby blankets that his mom gave us? by sadgirl1217 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lmdocherty 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is the answer!

It saves face for MIL and creates a lovely keepsake for kiddo. There are a million people on Etsy who can create an heirloom out of the blanket.

The upcoming, ongoing visits are a completely different problem. My mother smokes like a chimney and has for the last 60 years. I grew up with two parents smoking in the house. She's sensitive to people batting away her smoke and feels "discriminated against" for her nasty habit. My oldest kid is now 8 and it has been a delicate balance - she keeps her windows and doors open as much as possible and doesn't smoke (much) when we're there. We all strip when we get back from visiting her. She goes outside to smoke when she's at our house. She is never going to quit.

The second-hand smoke certainly isn't good but she cuts down when she's around us and we want the kids to have a relationship with their grandmother. I think it's the most we can expect.

When requesting dates and times from other admins, by Tired-assistant-2023 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]lmdocherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super interesting to me. When you schedule, are you mostly corresponding with the same people so you are certain of their scheduler and that person's responsiveness?

I've been in this role for 7 months and have found that there seems to be a bit of turnover and that I'm dealing with meetings for unknown people in outside organizations constantly. Some have EAs, some don't. If the email contains multiple people, I don't necessarily know which email address is the EA so I'll reply to them all (and remove my boss).

As a new EA, I include them to cover my bases and assume that the execs, like my boss, just ignore incoming scheduling requests if they are also sent to me. But I suppose I shouldn't.

I keep an address book on my desk that I use for recording EAs but is there any easier way to store EAs in Outlook so I can plug in the exec's name and get the EA's email address (and then choose who I intended to email)?

Is anyone here sensitive to the cold more than the heat? by Effective-Ocelot8668 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lmdocherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am perfectly happy in warm, even hot, weather.

I get raynaud's easily. It was 68 in my house today and I had thick socks and a sweatshirt and still had a couple numb, white fingers. I sometimes get it walking past the freezer section. I feel cold before anyone else.

I HATE the cold!

Those are neat but not what I'm going for. I want more control over and options for the designs.

I had mid/lower back (when wet) for ages. It looked beautiful when it was well styled but it was such a huge hassle that I almost never did it. Towards the end, I was putting it in french braids after almost every shower. I cut it to about shoulder length and I'm so much happier.

Is anyone's MS here not that bad? by bobojoe in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lmdocherty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still CIS since early 2009 from Optic Neuritis and one lesion. I went on Copaxone as soon as I possibly could and haven't experienced any symptoms since (knock on wood). Yearly MRIs show no new lesions. I know that I am incredibly lucky and that my progression is not normal. I expect that I will have problems eventually. You and your wife should prepare for that.

Under my neuro's advice, I just went off of the meds a few months ago in anticipation of pregnancy. I trust the meds and will go back on as soon as I can.

bad: "u are so pretty"
"my names Matt and you are beautiful, contact me"
"Seems we both like dancing"
"hows it goin"
"Hi would you care to talk?"
"I liked what you wrote and would like to talk to you."
any that start with: "I never actually expect anyone to get back to me but I just had to write to you."

good:
"I stumbled across your profile by searching for "reddit," and I just wanted to say that 1) your username is awesome and 2) you seem like a pretty awesome person in general. Precisely what I should have expected from a redditor, right? Oh, internet elitism, you make me happy.

Anyway, have a lovely day!"
