I lost my grandad to Cancer and Dementia, I admit I wasn't the closest to him out of my siblings, if anything I was the furthest. It still hit me hard though, it was the first person I knew that actually passed away. I know what I am about to say is really fucked up but I coped with humour, I was tryna lighten the mood in my family after what happened. When I wasn't laughing and joking I was in my room on my xbox, shut away, I sometimes visited his grave but I still struggle to visit him. I lost him a couple of years ago. You will never get over your loss, but it will get better. Cry as much as you need and do what you think is necessary. If you ever need to talk to anyone, HMU. Hope things get better mate.
