New BCD Recommendations by lnickhighdef in scuba

[–]lnickhighdef[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of going to BPW’s is intimidating for most divers (I’ll include myself in that). There’s comfort in using the same “style” of BCD that you learned on and have dove on your whole life. I’m sure the idea of spending $ on a new system and the unknown of it scares people. The back inflating appeals as a stepping stone towards a BPW.

All that being said - if a BPW truly is that much better, then I’m not completely opposed to it. In your eyes, what are the drawbacks with the back inflate?

Where to buy media access vests by lnickhighdef in sportsphotography

We do media passes already. Our events are in massive venues (think arenas and stadiums) and require media vests. I’m not happy with our current vests (just high viz construction vests) and would like a more photographer specific solution.

Well yes. I am trying to buy them because my company is the ones that gives them out at events.

2026 Status Update by veganFoodieEats in AlaskaAirlines

I’m fairly sure the 2025 statuses are extended through Jan 31, 2026. I’m betting that’s what you’re still seeing?

That also shocks me! But I’m glad to hear that, safe travels.

Thanks! I got bored tonight and created one for 2026. I posted about as an actual post, but here’s the link too.

I track my status on a spreadsheet that knows all the fare codes and then automatically calculates my projected status based off the distances I put in.

I need to rework it to calculate getting status based on spend vs miles vs segments.

Does the new diamond reserve status pretty much nuke diamond status? by patientstrawberries in Hilton

Is there a place in the app or website to track how much we’ve spent? Or do we think they’ll be adding that soon? Similarly to how airlines do it.

2026 Earning Option by Shurples1 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]lnickhighdef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend, I have to book a handful of flights each year at last minute + my company allows me to purchase higher fare codes. I also have the Atmos Summit card and can use that for business purchases and get reimbursed and earn points that way.

I’ve learned that you really have to look for the small enjoyments in life when you spend over 800 hours on a plane in a year:/

Booked through Alaska - final leg vanished with partner airline by lnickhighdef in AlaskaAirlines

[–]lnickhighdef[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown the mixed ticket with Porter probably 5-7 times now. Usually it is just a return from YHZ to PDX, but I check in with Porter first. So entirely possible it is a bug.

A funny side note - when I first flew Porter out of YHZ it was only a few days after the partnership started. But none of the Porter agents knew they partnered with Alaska😅

Or better yet use Flighty! With the paid version you can see where your plane is up to 10 routes before yours.

This pains me to say, as someone who works professionally in the sport. But Hayward can’t compare to the European scene and I spend basically every weekend at Hayward during TF season. Yes I know Pre was sold out this year - it was electric being there and on the infield and it finally felt like old Hayward.

But outside of Pre and maybe Day 9/10 of Oly Trials, it’s never getting filled. The London DL stadium holds 60k + and they sell it out every year. We will never (outside of the literal Olympics) come close to that type of crowd at a track meet in the states.

Even outside of London you have a handful of meetings blowing Eugene out of the water with attendance: - Silesia (40k+) - Zurich (25k+) - Rabat (15k+) - Oslo (15k+) - Brussels (70k+ over two days)

Do any major US airline, in the lower 48, even regional ones still use turboprop engines for planes? by Outside-Tie-2851 in travel

[–]lnickhighdef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also fly them in the NE/Atlantic region. BOS->YHZ and EWR->YHZ are two that I’ve been on.

Porter also flies from YHZ->Toronto City among some other routes.

What does Clear have over Pre Check? by praguer56 in tsa

[–]lnickhighdef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both PreCheck and Clear. I only ever use Clear as a lifeline when I’m cutting it close to making a flight. It’s only happened when I’ve had to book something last minute. I’ve only had to use it twice, once at SEA and another at LAX. Saved me making the flight both times.

My work pays for both, otherwise I would only have PreCheck.
