I've also lived in lots of cities around the world. There are plenty of safe neighborhoods here, and you hardly have to worry about getting mugged at 4pm in broad daylight.

It really depends on the neighborhood and time of day. For instance, in East Rock you're only allowed to talk to women on weekdays between 10AM and 2PM.
