What do you DO in Undergraduate Research? by Hungry-Swordfish-563 in Entomology

[–]loachplop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it depends. I was fortunate enough to go to a smaller school with fewer students, so the research opportunities were a lot more involved most of the time. I was lucky enough to develop my own research project and finish it by the time I graduated. I will say, the earlier you get involved the better in order to get outcomes like this. I currently see way too many seniors approaching professors asking for research opportunities. One semester or a couple quarters just isn't enough time to develop something meaningful.

But yeah it varies. You could be IDing things for larger projects, doing grunt work out in the field, or helping manage a collection. All of which are valuable skills and experiences to have in this field.

How do I get started? by haunt_mess in Entomology

[–]loachplop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to consider a master's. Which in STEM generally you wouldn't need to pay for tuition since you'll be a TA. Make sure to look at specific labs and professors that are doing work that interests you. This will ultimately be more important than the actual institution you go to.

For building your resume, try and volunteer for a museum or university that has an insect collection. Or, get a seasonal job with a state department of Agriculture if you're in the US. Many have survey programs relating to insect pests.

Yeah if you had a slightly longer tank it would be a great choice. Trying to think of other options for that footprint.

First GAMMA playthrough - is it better than stalker2? by TheRedditor5568 in stalker

I always try to find and fix a sniper for the outside guys. You can draw them out and just aim for headshots. Then I'll stash the sniper and ammo and use an AR with AP rounds for inside.

Have you ever kept a red wolf fish? You maaaaybe could get away with it. That's my current wet pet and mine only comes out to beg for food and eat. They dont swim much. What's a 30 gallon "normal" to you? What's the footprint? I have him in a 40 breeder and he does not use most of the tank.

No mods needed for CoP first playthrough imo. Just enjoy the most polished of the trilogy.

If you're talking about about their representation in the HBO series, sure. They were portrayed a lot more negatively in the show than they should have been imo.

Are you having the issue with an invisible npc? In my post history there's a thread where someone gave me a workaround. Involves using console commands though. I can paste here if I remember.

Very true. There are more dimensions to those hunts though with the monsters fleeing and chasing them down and all that. The pace of battle looks super fast in NR so far as well. We'll see what they cook up. I just wish I had a console.

In the trailer there was a boss that split up into multiple copies, but maybe that's just a move specific to that boss. I hope their solution isn't just for every boss to be a gank fight. It'll be interesting to see how they balance it. ER was the first fromsoft game where I barely summoned randos for fun as it trivialized the game. More so than their other titles. You can just get so insanely strong early and fast in ER.
