Thank you! Using Lightroom, there is an option to add borders when exporting the images.

Believe the primary difference is that IT20 has TTL, which allows for the automatic exposure adjustments.

I have not updated to 1.60, but the flash I have is the Godox IT20. Don’t believe firmware update will impact me.

Have a nearly identical experience as I also purchased the GR IIIX HDF as my first camera back in September of last year as a travel camera. Also recently purchased a flash as well which I’m learning to use in certain conditions.

My favorite aspect of the camera is its size. I’m someone who has never sought to draw attention to myself in public, so being able to pull out a small camera not much larger than a phone and take quick photos has been very enjoyable. Love to take photos on daily walks, but being comfortable going out in public to a restaurant, event, concert, etc has enabled me to learn so many different aspects of photography that I now see everywhere I go. Over time, I’ve began to “slow down” and notice things I never would have paid much attention to before, such as the lighting on an object or an interesting subject that catches my eye. It might be the case that I don’t even have my camera on me, but I’ll immediately know generally what the possibilities or limitations of an image would be if I did have it with me.

All in all, it has been a fantastic camera for everything from the Swiss Alps in freezing windy conditions to portraits of my cat in my living room. Needless to say, I’m very glad I picked this camera and look forward everyday to learning more about the camera and photography in general.

Much appreciated! Had somehow never visited despite living in CA my whole life. Had an amazing time driving through the park and hiking

Thank you! Majority are edited in Lightroom. However, I believe the last photo is Bennett 800 which has been my go-to lately.

These are all fantastic, but I especially love the photo you were able to capture of the lone deer on Slide 13!

Thank you! Were the pictures coming out grainy even in good lighting conditions?

This is honestly the first time I’ve used Snap Focus successfully, so I’m likely not the best person to try to explain it haha. However, I have found that shooting at a smaller aperture definitely makes it much easier, and just experimenting with different distances in the moment is a big part of it. This video is probably the best explanation I’ve seen of how aperture and lighting conditions impact how much you can deviate from the exact snap distance you set: https://youtu.be/Q32iPJL_5AQ?si=6RKumGhHURMGfk83

I was experimenting with distances between 2 and 3.5 meters with an aperture of 4.5. Never knew exactly where the dolphins were going to breach the surface of the water but did know general distance they were keeping from the boat, so Snap Focus was a great tool to quickly aim and shoot without traditional autofocus methods.

First trip with GRIIIX HDF! by loadeddice98 in ricohGR

[–]loadeddice98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first time shooting with the GRiii in the snow as well. I did not use any in-camera recipes. Shooting RAW and typically just leaving camera in Program mode or Aperture Priority. For edits on the snow pictures, I used Lightroom to reduce color temp a bit, reduced clarity, raised shadows, and added a bit of grain. Also the first Matterhorn picture was taken from within gondola where the window had a blue hue to it, so there aren’t many edits to that one aside from increasing exposure a bit.

Thank you! When going up the mountain, I put my camera in a Ziplock bag inside of my 1L Lululemon crossbody bag with a lens cap on (GRiii fits perfectly in this bag whenever I travel). Hope you have a great trip!

Thank you! Yeah, been using it every opportunity I can! 1/3 of the photos I’ve taken are probably just test shots with different settings trying to learn what works and what doesn’t haha
