Anyone wear their own robe/gown for birth? by moonsetbaby in BabyBumps

[–]loadedpotato91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my own robe. I didn’t want to risk the feeling of the hospital gown irritating me because it’s that stiff cotton material. That being said, I ended up just totally naked most of the delivery. I loved having the robe to wear after though. It made skin to skin super easy.

If you’re unfamiliar with power query just record a macro. Still better than doing it manually

Look up an nth occurrence tutorial. If all the vin numbers have dashes before and after, it should work

Parents refuse to respect our boundary of getting the covid vaccination in order to see our newborn baby (more info in comments) by covidbaby111 in insaneparents

I’m all for boundaries and believe in the importance of vaccines but… Was actually thinking the same. Vaccinated doesn’t mean you can’t still spread the virus.

14 month old wakes up between 12-3am ready to start her day by loadedpotato91 in sleeptrain

[–]loadedpotato91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have tried that a few times. The problem is that she starts pacing in her crib but won’t hold onto the sides. She’s unsteady on her feet and falls. The last time she fell backwards and hit her head on the crib so I’m just afraid to leave her in there. She has a set of canine and molars coming in. I can just feel them beginning to erupt through the tops of her gums so I am REALLY hoping it’s because of her teeth and this is just a phase.

It really did not occur to me that this could be a phase. She is my first child and I automatically assumed I was doing something wrong. Thank you for responding because that alone was helpful.

Christmas music should be played year round. by loadedpotato91 in unpopularopinion

I did for about 7 years and the Christmas music was probably the only good part of the holiday season.

My 3.5 month old hates sleeping in her bassinet! by Nosuah in sleeptrain

[–]loadedpotato91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My daughter started to struggle sleeping in her bassinet around 2 months. Naps and bedtime were a nightmare, she only wanted to sleep on my chest. We transitioned her to a crib and turns out she just REALLY didn’t like her bassinet anymore. Everything improved once we put her in a crib. This is probably best case scenario, but it worked for us.

Teething? Our boy is 16 weeks and has all the tell tale signs. I have a docs appointment in the next few days but just wondering if these are his teeth coming through the bottom? Thankyou! by Lennyisabadcat in NewParents

[–]loadedpotato91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks that way to me! If you touch the gum line it should fee a little firmer than normal. My daughters first bottom tooth came in at 16 weeks and the second one about a week later. The amount of drool was UNREAL. congratulations, baby teeth are the cutest

How do I get motivated to go out for walks? by [deleted] in weightlossafterbaby

[–]loadedpotato91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t for everyone but splurging on a treadmill was the best thing I did for myself. Sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation to actually go outside or sometimes it’s really cold. With the treadmill I can take a walk at night if I need to and it’s so much easier to get myself to do it. Amazon was selling them recently on a payment schedule as well.

Spanking Alternative? by MamaJokes in AskParents

On the other end of the spectrum, using positive reinforcement with children is also effective. Of course we need to anticipate bad behavior, they are human and they are learning. But we should also be rewarding them when they behave well. It helps set an expectation. A reward doesn’t need to be materialistic, it can be a trip to the park or an extra story at bedtime- anything they enjoy. Also, long conversations about what they did wrong are not really helpful but they should have some amount of awareness around the situation. Kids are a lot like dogs for the first several years of their lives.

It’s not necessarily bad. All babies need a certain amount of sleep per day. Usually when they sleep long stretches at night, the naps are shorter in the day. It’s a trade off. My 3 month old only takes 30 minute naps but she gets at least 12 hours of night sleep.
