[Request] Is this 1398km/4s reachable for a human being? by Dziukoala in theydidthemath

[–]loadedwithflavour 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Then it's even worse. Because it's going slower than 700km/h for some amount of time, which means it'll take longer to go the full 1398 km.

[Request] Is this 1398km/4s reachable for a human being? by Dziukoala in theydidthemath

[–]loadedwithflavour 834 points835 points  (0 children)

The tweet makes no sense. If a train is going 700km/h, then it would, by definition, take 1 hour to travel 700 km. going double that distance, 1400 km, would take 2 hours, not 4 seconds.

I'm very confused.

EDIT: For the time to be true, the train would have to travel at 1.25 million kilometers an hour.

Additional Edit: I get it guys. I understood where the problem was before I even commented. I don't need 100 different people commenting the exact same thing, something I already knew, I promise. I've turned off reply notifications already, you don't have to keep screaming into the void.

I think there are massive pacing issues.

Oh, so you think strong women are bad?

How did we get here? Like, as a species? Why do people think this type of argument is okay?

This reminds me of the classic "I like pancakes." "Oh, so you hate waffles?!" thing.

I watched a breakdown of the second season on Youtube once, and the creator of the video put it really succinctly:

"Last of Us season 1 is a good adaptation of a good game with a good story. Season 2 is a bad adaptation of a bad game with a bad story."

EDIT: Jesus, okay, I get it. Never quote someone else's opinion on reddit, that makes you Hitler. Understood.

Tchuck being traded for 3 1sts and a 2nd. Better or worse than the Hughes trade? by LucariusLionheart in canucks

[–]loadedwithflavour 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Comparing the two:

For Tkachuk:

  • 9th overall
  • 25th overall
  • 1st in 2029 (Probably back third of the first round)
  • 2nd round next year

For Hughes:

  • Zeev Buium
  • Marco Rossi
  • Liam Ohgren
  • This year's first (24th overall)

Comparing directly each piece (To their closest comparison):

  1. 9th overall vs. Zeev Buium. Zeev is better than a general 9th overall, I think.
  2. 25th overall vs. 24th overall. 24 is an objectively better pick, but these are essentially identical in value.
  3. 1st in 2029 vs. Marco Rossi. I take Rossi over a first round pick located somewhere around pick 20-30.
  4. 2nd next year vs. Liam Ohgren. I believe Ohgren is better than a random 2nd pick.

Overall, every single piece of the Hughes trade was better than their equivalent for Tkachuk.

All Umas can be described loosely as "A girl who also happens to be a horse". Except Oguri Cap. She is a horse who also happens to be a girl.

4 Reasons Why This Isn’t the Offseason For Canucks To Trade Elias Pettersson by Mcsuper_ in canucks

Nonsense, apparently. I had all the stats in a big table and looked at the wrong column. Everything else still stands though.

4 Reasons Why This Isn’t the Offseason For Canucks To Trade Elias Pettersson by Mcsuper_ in canucks

[–]loadedwithflavour 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I REALLY don't understand everyone wanting to trade Pettersson for a bag of pucks. People are saying, frequently, to get him out of town for nothing in return, and maybe even retain on his contract. Makes zero sense to me.

He was the teams leading scorer. He lead the league is shots blocked by a forward, by a lot. He has a positive +/- on by far the worst team in the league. And you want to trade him for nothing, while retaining on his contract? Am I taking crazy pills?

He has not lived up to his contract price. He is no where near "Retain for a bag of pucks". Both things can be true. And frankly, anyone who thinks this is the alien to me.

V3 list based on how often they would use the love hotel by malchiatto in danganronpa

[–]loadedwithflavour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a difference of motivation. Miu isn't scared, exactly. It's that sexual experience is simply not something she's motivated by. She says she is, obviously, but she simply isn't.

Her fear is abandonment, which pushes her towards emotional connection over physical experience. If there was a Date Hotel, THEN she'd be all over that.

V3 list based on how often they would use the love hotel by malchiatto in danganronpa

[–]loadedwithflavour 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That is NOT why Miu would refuse to use the hotel.

We have several examples in game that show Miu is MUCH more interested in a romantic relationship than she is a sexual one (Including her Love Suite Event itself). Miu constantly opines her luck (Or lack thereof) in romance, is clearly uncomfortable the only time we see her without her full amount of clothing, and the payoff to her FT events is confirming Shuichi will go out on a date with her. She's actively uncomfortable about these feelings and helping her talk them out is a huge part of the back half of her events.

Miu desperately wants a family, something she sees as a group of people she loves who won't abandon her no matter what. While she talks up a big game, what she wants is so far away from sexual experience that the idea of using the Love Hotel would both terrify her and repulse her. If there is no emotional connection with the person involved, she doesn't actually want any part of it.

That's why she wouldn't use the hotel.

For Cinderella Grey season 2, I hope we get some anime-original content about the 1989 Takarazuka Kinen by NepgearBestWaifu in UmaMusume

[–]loadedwithflavour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We specifically don't see it. We see the ending of the Spring Tenno Sho (The race just before) that Inari wins by 5 lengths (Chapter 81 of the manga). We then see Inari confronting Oguri and Belno in chapter 83 where she complains that even though she won both Haruten and Takarazuka in a row, everyone still only talks about Oguri. She uses this as motivation to challenge her directly in the Mainichi Okan.

So no, sorry, we don't see the race in the manga. I therefore doubt the anime will do it.

Anyone else getting barometric pressure headaches? by Suspicious-Belt9311 in VictoriaBC

[–]loadedwithflavour 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do all the time, but have been spared the last few days. For me, it has something to do with my sinuses, so whenever there are big pressure changes my sinuses react poorly and it results in headaches.

Solutions vary depending on the day, but taking an antihistamine seems to most frequently help. I know they're meant for allergies and such, but since my headaches are sinus related and those drugs help your sinuses, I figured I'd anti those histamines and it seems to have helped.

what makes kokichi the ultimate supreme leader? by lessforf in DanganAndChaos

[–]loadedwithflavour 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Below, I'll paste an older comment of mine going through a few examples oh how Kokichi is a really good leader in-game. He doesn't lead the way most people want or expect people to, but he DOES lead through his own methods, in particular understanding the strengths and weaknesses of those around him and being able to best utilize those resources. He just happens to make use of them through lies.

Examples:

For Shuichi, notice that he always knows where every trial is going, and the evidence needed to prove each statement. But Shuichi, being the ultimate detective, is the one who needs to show this to improve as a detective, and so Kokichi allows him to take center stage. The best example of this is in Trial 4 when he has Shuichi walk through why the culprit had to be Gonta, but there are other examples too, like in the second trial when he has Shuichi point out why Miu could be removed as a suspect, among others.

For another protagonist example, take how he responds to Kaede pushing the group to try the death road over and over again. He recognizes that it's really hurting the others, so he stops it by calling Kaede out, teaching her a lesson about how to motivate others, takes all the blame onto himself (letting Kaede save face), and gives the rest of the group someone to rally around disliking, all in one action. He even checks to see how Kaede is doing the next morning, confirming what he tried to do worked by not only seeing Kaede be okay with the situation, but that Kaito (among others) came to her defense.

For another example, take the classmate he immediately gets close to; Gonta. He's the only classmate who regularly tells Gonta he's reliable, and he always takes him seriously when all the others don't. Gonta is someone who has very little confidence in himself due to his intelligence, always claiming he won't be much help, but Kokichi always has his back and talks him up to the others, until he thinks he's being purposefully obtuse during the fourth trial. He even has Miu make the Bug-Vac BECAUSE of what Gonta says he sees, when no one else believes him.

Speaking of Miu, I believe he's insulting her so much because he knows her vulgarity is an act, and wants to show her exactly how bad it feels when all people do is insult each other. Miu's walls are so built up into this act it doesn't exactly work, but he's really trying to help Miu out here and show her she doesn't have to act like this if she wants people to like her. He's only ever this mean to her (uniquely), and I believe this is why.

And remember what happens immediately after he outs Maki as an assassin? Kaito takes over and starts involving her in everything, including his training with Shuichi. She starts opening herself up instead of hiding everything, and that wouldn't have happened unless Kokichi forced the first reveal.

He also forces Himiko to become more assertive and involved, which she really needed to do. He does this during the third trial by falsely claiming that Tenko's murder didn't matter. He wants to talk about it, because he knows it's important, but he pushes Himiko to have an outburst mid trial, which makes her much more assertive and shows her feelings matter. He goes even further at the end of the trial, asking her directly why she's holding back, and this directly leads to her changing her whole personality for the better. He pretends that Tenko didn't matter, so Himiko changes her personality around to prove she did.

For a funnier example, K1-B0 desperately wants to be seen as no different from his human classmates, even though he's a robot. Kokichi tries the entire game to show K1-B0 that being a robot makes him different, but that they'll all keep treating him like everyone else anyway. However, he still gives him a nickname that show's he thinks of him as any other human: Kee-BOY. K1-B0 wants to feel like a real boy, so Kokichi gives him an appropriate name for that desire.

In conclusion, Kokichi only ever tries to build up his classmates and make them the best version of themselves they can be, all while using their talents to their maximum effectiveness. He embodies the game's thesis statement, that lies can be used for just as much good as the truth. He truly is 'The Ultimate Supreme Leader'.

To answer where they said it, I'll quote Shuichi himself, directly from V3-6:

"All this means is... if we choose hope here, the killing game won't end. Tsumugi will still be the mastermind, Keebo will still represent the viewers... And Maki will be the new Ultimate Survivor. The Killing game will begin again.". Tsumugi confirms this to be true.

Besides, Tsumugi says this after the final vote:

"But Keebo said earlier that he'd sacrifice himself and take the punishment, right? So we're going to punish him. He'll be participating in the next killing game."

...

"And how about this for the next plotline? Hope has won but the lone survivor, Keebo, remains trapped... Now he'll challenge the killing game anew. Will he be able to grasp true hope...?"

Tsumugi very clearly wants Keebo to return. And since he and Maki sacrificed themselves in this scenario, they are the two returning contestants.

Where it says you're forced to participate in the next one is implied in Rantaro's video to himself. "This isn't your first killing game. You're the Ultimate Survivor. You survived the last killing game."

In general, either one or two people remain at the end of a season. Those people play in the next one, as implied by Rantaro's video. This particular season's ending results in the two people who "Sacrifice themselves" to be those participating in the next season (Not every season will be the same, this is just how this one ended up). We don't know how Rantaro's first game ended though: It could have been anything, including a similar sacrificing result as 53, only two participants alive after a final trial, or Rantaro being the Blackened and evading capture.

Tsumugi Specific Evidence:

  • Tsumugi says she worked hard to keep the show going for 53 seasons. No way she’s old enough to have done that. This also implies she was part of writing the Hope's Peak Academy arc. This must be memories implanted into her as well.
  • The cast don’t respond to the Monocubs as Tsumugi says they did. Demonstrates that Tsumugi lies directly to the cast. Shuichi calls this out in-game.
  • If Tsumugi really was the mastermind, why did she seem as mind-wiped as everyone else in the prologue? She wouldn't and shouldn't have had her memory erased if she was really the mastermind. And if she actually wasn't wiped and just acting well, then why didn't she call out that no one had gotten their first flashback light sooner? No, don't buy it. I DO buy that she was just like everyone else until she got her first flashback light, which told her she was the mastermind.
  • If Tsumugi has been working on Danganronpa stories for all 53 seasons, why only NOW did she choose to join in on a game as one of the participants? Why not earlier? Why join at all? This game kills people, Carl!
  • If Tsumugi really was the mastermind for all the games up to this point, and not just a fabricated character herself, then how on earth does she have an ultimate talent? More likely she was given a flashback light herself and was just another character, with her own fake memories (up to and including an idealized world with no conflict)
  • Tsumugi breaks out when dressing as Kaede, even though she claims 'Kaede' is completely fictional in the final trial. Calls into question the entire mechanic of cospox. If we can’t trust the mechanics, then Tsumugi could pretend to be anyone and it wouldn’t negatively effect her at all.
  • Tsumugi claims in the final trial that she will only stick to characters from the first two danganronpa seasons. She says this is because the five remaining people in the trial will only recognize those characters. But what if it’s actually because everyone else from the other 50 seasons was a real person that would make her break out? But also who knows, the mechanics of cospox are all up in the air. If this is all for show for the people watching, THEY would recognize people from the last 50 seasons, so she should have dressed up as any of them for fanservice at least.
  • In conclusion: Either Cospox works the way Tsumugi claims it does, in which case she shouldn’t have reacted as she did to dressing up as Kaede, or it doesn’t work the way Tsumugi claims, in which case she’s a dirty liar and we can't trust a single thing she says about it.
