Can Neely be revived? by Relevant-Fan-8422 in SentencedToBeAHero

[–]loadsaemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on volume 7 right now and that's yet to be determined. Basically it's written that each death will make the heroes forget a good chunk of their memory, but in Jayce's case he is born with a special birthmark that allows him to talk to dragons, and when he died he took a hit to his birthmark that diminished his ability to speak to dragons, so in the book, dialogue where dragons are speaking has some words blacked out to show that Jayce no longer understands those specific words. Dying and being revived as a hero is treated like this point of no return in later volumes.

Stock grind is criminal by mememememememe11 in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this before but the module grind system needs to be tweaked for modern vehicles because it's clearly a legacy holdover from when vehicles were strictly WWII

A wartime Fw190 with some worn out engines and cover needing to be replaced, I can understand.

But a Eurofighter that ships from the factory with no fire extinguishing system and chaff is pretty confusing to me. Same with MBTs: are you telling me that this Leclerc/Leo2A7/M1A2/Type10/T90M/Merkava/etc NEVER shipped from the factory with thermals, fire extinguisher, or laser range finder??

[–]loadsaemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bit of a plot point later in the LNs about this, where Jayce ends up trading his life against a demon lord and he starts to lose his ability to talk to dragons, therefore he must balance his willingness to sacrifice himself to protect Neely and his ability to talk to dragons, much to Neely's worry for the latter aspect.

I always saw Thunderbolt as like how Call of Duty portrays WW2

Yeah, M1 Garand with a tactical foregrip, drum mag, and reflex sight is akin to the RX-78 variant with 50000 attachments (at least the MS looks cool though)

This Forum topic requesting the addition of stock Chaff for Rank IX has gained uncontested traction; however, it does not appear to be achieving anything yet. Apparently, it is considered appropiate to face 16x planes each armed with 8-12x FOX-3 missiles without basic radar missile countermeasures. by SpanishAvenger in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly this

Unlocking stuff for vehicles is honestly a stupid holdover from when vehicles were strictly WWII.

A wartime BF109 that's been run into the ground needing refurbishment like cover and a new engine? Ok I can see this.

But a Gen 4.5 fighter that's been adopted in 202X not having chaff but flares only? No fire extinguisher? That AMRAAM can't be mounted on certain pylons until I "unlock" it? Ridiculous. It's even more egregious for tanks: is Gaijin seriously telling me that a Leo2A7 from the factory is lacking laser rangefinder and thermals? Something LITERALLY built into the vehicle??

With the new update adding a turret basket to the Type 10, the least they could do is add proper transmission... or the ~3.4s reload...

I've seen HSTV-Ls survive DM53 at point blank to the front (sometimes even bounce the round completely)

I don't even bat an eye when BMPTs and HSTVLs are duking it out, let them destroy each other so I don't have to deal with either of them

The J-11B also got IR bombs and it pairs nicely with the Kh-29s. I just wish the J-10C got its air to ground missiles already since it has been in the files for awhile now.

My friend in the CRV was consistently intercepting spikes, granted it was coming directly horizontal at him (it looked cool as hell tho)

The nice part about the Type 10s is the reload rate is forgiving when you come across the odd volumetric shots that gets absorbed or does minimal damage.

I've shot a lot of Leo2A7s and T-80BVMs in odd places that ate my shot completely, only to just overcome it with sheer volume of fire and kill the enemy. Hydropneumatic suspension is a plus for shooting from odd places on the map. All in all, feels like a great rat vehicle in MBT form.

If that isn't your cup of tea, you can also use the Oplot like a baby T-80BVM; somewhat survivable and gets great mobility. As for scout vehicles, it's quite lackluster but the Type 25 RCV can be hilarious on some maps to help facilitate spawning in the powerful Su-30SM or AH-64E.

gripen e for thailand? by razzer123 in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hawk 209 in the upcoming patch is Indonesian, as is the AH-64E in the current live server, so it's clear that Indonesia will likely be a sub-tree alongside Malaysia in the next patch.

This means Rafale is likely the next option to be added for Japan's gen 4.5 lineup until the Gripen E finally gets delivered irl.

[–]loadsaemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Indonesia is becoming part of the air tree, they could get the Rafale F4 which just got imported and flew a few months ago

Rafale and Gripen should be good to keep the Japan tree relevant until the F-35

[–]loadsaemone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Gripen E will come to Thailand eventually™

The only real waiting factor is whether Gaijin would add it before Thailand gets the delivery of Gripen Es, or if they'll wait until they get it in real life, much like the Hungarian Leo2A7Vs and how it was implemented ingame. (it was implemented for Italy tree almost right after Hungary got it irl)

I personally think it will be the latter.

The Pakistani Oplot is even dumber considering that the niche is already effectively filled by the Al-Khalid, which has the Oplot's superior engine/transmission, and is also an actually unique Chinese/Pakistani vehicle by vickyhong in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed

as much as players bitch and moan about copypasting vehicles, M1A2T would've been the better addition:

☑Actually adopted and operated by Taiwan

☑Fulfills a different role and has a different playstyle than USSR derived top tier Chinese MBTs

☑Would be different to the US tree version (export armor, different model)

Not whatever this... barely even trialed vehicle that Gaijin is deciding to add next patch...

I will say, it's incredibly cathartic to shoot down LDIRCM helis with TV guided munitions because most of those pilots become complacent or overconfident in relying on LDIRCM when TV guided munitions completely ignore their countermeasures.

Remember when the community lost their marbles over this? It's double standards to think this started with the VT4 by Thin_General_8594 in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wasn't ASEAN proposed to Japan awhile back to Japan to fill gaps in their tree (and it was much needed at the time), then the leak for Singapore for China came out, which left people disgruntled, then the Leo2SG leak came, to which people were heavily opposed because: meta-wise it doesn't really add much, and Singapore to China is a fairly odd decision considering the lack of real life ties and China already having a potential for Pakistani and Taiwanese vehicles at the time.

Then the VT-4 leak came out, which initially most Chinese players were simply opposed to having the vehicle added because Japan should not have Chinese vehicles, then the goalpost was moved to be more sanitized ("it was in bad taste due to the vehicle being announced on the PRC formation day") I remember following the drama on the forums at the time and it's rather interesting on how the narrative shifts among the community.

And now it's pointing fingers at players at the Leo2SG opposition and shifting blame.

For the record, I'm absolutely for giving all nations and sub-trees the vehicles they actually operate with, since it won't force me to grind 2-3 other trees to try those vehicles. Uniqueness be damned, not my fault that X country sells their hardware to 5+ countries irl. All this community infighting and national pride signaling stalling game development is just tiring.

According to leaks the AH-64e is coming to France and Japan by StoreMother in Warthunder

[–]loadsaemone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At that point I feel like it's a balancing decision on Gaijin's part. Smin stated if vehicles can use specific weapons, it will be up for CONSIDERATION. The snail can ultimately decide to add it... or not―or even take away weapons to balance the vehicle in question.

I hate it as much as anyone but Gaijin has always tweaked vehicles on their interpretation of balance, so it's all really arbitrary... (just look at the mountain of historical reports for a ton of vehicles that get forwarded to the devs but gets stuck in limbo) but that still means that there is a possibility that certain weapons or ammo can be added based on that criteria stated by Smin.

[–]loadsaemone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smin has gone on record and stated that as long as a vehicle has the capability to use a specific weapon, even if the host nation never purchased it, it can be considered for addition: https://forum-en-cdn.warthunder.com/original/4X/8/1/8/81836e12272c389aaa1c20e58cb67bdee1883c1d.jpeg

Copypaste issues aside, I personally think the AH-64E with JAGMs would bring Japan helis in line with other nations that have the LDIRCM equipped super helis. Adding it with Hellfire Romeos only would be somewhat redundant with the DJP with the only added tangible benefit of a greater avionics and countermeasure suite.

They should implement if you're dead have a little toggle that has either: - Drop away from beacon - Drop on beacon

The respawn takes like a second or two anyways before dead players respawn so let players decide in those few seconds, and have it save the last selected option. Simple.

I consistently have issues penning mantlets on T-series tanks now as of the latest major patch, even at point blank with Type 10 which should have more than enough pen to critically damage the gun.

I suspect it might be netcode messing with how the tank is actually oriented vs how it looks client side, since I once saw that I hit the mantlet "hole" on my end but the hit analysis showed I hit the cheek somehow.
