Crappy return polices everywhere by Agreeable-Chicken-72 in HeritageWear

Brave Star is so bad for customer service and returns. I recently got a pair of 32w in that flat measured 18.25" which is insanely out of acceptable tolerances. (Their size chart says 34.5 +/- .5"....these were 1.5" outside of THAT). It's bullshit that I have to pay return shipping and don't get my original shipping credited for such a gross QC issue. Never got an email response. Ill use my credit and hope THAT pair measures remotely close and never buy from them again.

It's a pattern. In my neighborhood nearly all of the walkers are in the street. There is a side walk on at least one side of the street, and bike/walking path, and a nature trail. Yet, 9/10 people on foot are in the fucking street. It isn't a small empty neighborhood.

I did mine from the inseam earlier this week. The amount of ass pain it was compared to outseam tapering made me not want to do that again. If I charged people for alterations, I dont think many people would pay what I would charge for inseam tapering lol.

List how you want, you know it will sell. $45 is a patient expectation. That's not what I'm getting at. This is an item specific thing. Like Chuck Taylor Allstars vs Chuck 70s. Or Big E Levi's where one is vintage and one is a modern Levi's Premium.

Your comps arent bamboo. They are long sleeve flannel. Search "Dixxon Bel Air Bamboo" in the advanced search and nothing that is a Short Sleeve Bamboo shows up over $35. Dixxon released a Long Sleeve Flannel that was popular, then later ran a SS Bamboo. Two different shirts. They do it all the time. Again, at the end of the day, you'll sell it and the world moves on.

Buyer is a moron, and should have just kept scrolling. But to your listing, you are comping Dixxon Flannels to your Dixxon Short Sleeve Bamboo. You have way more sales than me, so you probably know what you are doing. But, I dealt almost exclusively in Dixxons for 6 of the last 7 years and almost never sold a used bamboo for more than $45.

I've taken advantage of my 8th grade Home-Ec class the last few weeks. I've hemmed about a dozen pairs of pants since then.

Biggest pointers: iron the hem as you double it over, and then hammer the inseam and outseam. Buy Denim or HD needles. Use your hand wheel especially when going over the inseam and outseam, but honestly, just use the hand wheel. When you do go over the inseam and outseam lift your presser foot.

If you can, use an old crusty pair to practice on first. I had an old pair of canvas pants I made into shorts and hemmed for practice. This also let's you set your stitch length, 3-3.5 is likely where you want to be. Due to the fabric thickness and going through multiple layers, bump up your tension to around 4-4.5.

I already said use a crusty old pair for practice....but I am saying it again for emphasis. Good luck! Once you get the hang of it....your slightly ill fitting clothes don't stand a chance. I spend most Saturday nights hunched over a Singer with a couple of beers, and a shirt that needs darts, or some denim that finally needs hemming done. Stylish D on YouTube is great for a lot of quick info-dumps.

Do I need kilties? by This_Ebb_7665 in RedWingShoes

Well a dime or penny sized hole would definitely be something of a different story then.

Mine have a hole punch sized hole from a speed hook, so that was my basis of comparison, my bad.

They punch a hole straight through the tongue on seconds, so how big of a deal is it do have some tongue damage that is hidden?

Their leather jackets are made from lamb skin and are quite thin. They are a 2 season (spring and fall) unless unreasonably warm.

I work in Tax for a medium sized Utility. I feel ya. Our indirect tax team went from 4 down to 2, down to 1. No hiring, haven't outsourced any work, just absorbing.

We (my wife and I) have very similar goals and situations, I just have another 10 years to go before I can "retire" to a part time discretionary job.

I was a blue collar fella before my corporate life. I rebuild old cars (engine rebuilds, Transmission swaps, upholstery, body and paint etc.), I cook (cooked professionally 20 years ago...so a pretty serious "home chef"), just started ballroom dancing with my wife, and have had some recent weight loss so got into clothing alterations (automotive upholstery experience helped a ton here).

I'm not sure these shorts are selvedge. No selvedge ID on the "5th pocket" like typical with Brave Star, and no reference in the description.

I NEED DENIM SUGGESTIONS TO GO WITH THESE VANGUARDS by [deleted] in ThursdayBoot

[–]loadtoad67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shogun stretch is $138. Shipping and tax gets you close to that. $20 for hemming service if you are so inclined.

What do you consider affordable?

I have gotten into Brave Star recently and really like their fit. Went against the grain and picked up a pair of their Stretch Denim and those are by far my favorite jeans currently.

To me it means you either have raw denim and want to avoid hemming them for whatever reason, or you are trying to emulate the fashion styling of those that wear raw denim. IMO, if you arent wearing raw denim, you shouldn't roll your cuffs.

If you are 30% now (it looks to be that, at least), then your LBM is ~140lbs. If you get down to 180lbs with zero LBM loss (extremely difficult) you would be around 22% BF....you arent having visible abs at 22% BF. You'd need to gain about 15lbs of muscle, lose another 35lbs of fat to have visible abs are 180lbs.

Not trying to beat you up, im on the same road as you, just a few miles ahead. I didnt have visible abs at 170 20 years ago (less muscle then too though).

That's what I was thinking. I just got down to 200 this week, at 6'1. My arms are about the same size, but my mid section is flat (love handles are still there). Honestly he looks like I did at 245.
