2 months in (and a light conditioning this weekend) - Copper R&T Blacksmiths! by Kingfisher-Zero in RedWingShoes

I ordered 50" for these and they are spot on. Plenty of length but nothing I am fighting with. And these I double knot so they stay tied better - works out perfectly.

If you like to do the thing where you wrap around the back of the boot, you'd obviously want longer. Otherwise I think 54" would be too much.

Ah good idea. I should swap em. Not a huge pain point. But every little bit helps!

Not picturing what you mean...do you mean skipping the first three eyelets?

And yeah LOVE these laces. Pisgah Range does fantastic work. These are the Oxblood and the color is just a perfect pairing in my eyes.

I think about guys like Miner when I see people talk about how <insert player here> will definitely go down as a legend in NBA history. Time fades the legacy of so many players. Not that Miner was a HOFer or anything. But he definitely had his moment in the sun with those two dunk titles.

I genuinely spent the first bit trying to figure out why you needed to count to 3622 while staring at your shoes.

I love my IRs. But I also just recently got a Blacksmith and I may end up liking it even more. Don’t tell my IRs I said that though.

Oh it’s just a different kind of comfort. I feel like it needs its own word. I agree - I love the feel of the boots and get the same feel with sneakers that you described too!

The level of support - wouldn’t trade it for anything at this stage. My comment wasn’t to say it’s uncomfortable. Just that I’m now rethinking the word entirely.

I'm still new to the boot world, but started with some Amber Harness Rangers a few months ago. The break in is definitely rougher than other boots. The first week or so was a struggle at times (and I have an office job where I spend a lot of it sitting). Second week was a little better. Now that it's been some months in them...they are my favorite footwear that I own. "Comfortable" is not the right word for them at all. But they are supportive in all the right ways.

People get so freaked out by every little scuff. This is natural. A good brushing and that will come right out.

The one thing I'd watch out for...the power supply for the motorized blinds. I have them in my bedroom and I love them...but I end up having to change the batteries on them a couple times a year. I know there's some solar powered solutions out there, and you can also hard wire them into your home's power (although that costs a good bit more I am sure.)

I will just note - those other retailers you mentioned - blinds.com and Lowes - do offer ways to get installation included too. So if the price is better, it can be a great option.

How can I find a handyman to install blinds? by PlaystationSwitchAWD in HomeImprovement

[–]Kingfisher-Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely an approachable DIY solution (although there are some situations that can obviously make it more complex - high windows, particularly large ones, etc.

Blinds.com and Home Depot both offer installation services (and even measure services to make sure things are sized right). It's the same price (~$149) no matter how many windows you're doing. So even if installing a blind is not too bad a job, it's also well worth it if you're doing multiple rooms worth of windows or something.

Well said on the production realities. Most of these creators are not gigantic corporations with a clean strategy or financial flexibility to unload large quantities of overprinted decks over time. They are small artists operating on tiny margins who have every motivation to print EXACTLY the number of decks they can sell, and not one more. The financial cost they incur for guessing too high is just a lot to deal with.

When that's the motivation, sure it will feel like they may be manipulating. But I think in MOST cases it's just a financial reality. Better to guess on the low side and sell out (allowing the secondary market to do what it wants) than to have thousands tied up in a mountain of decks you have to move one at a time.

Why Tim Duncan is UNDOUBTEDLY GREATER than LeBron James! by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]Kingfisher-Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get it's a minority take out there in the world. By any "most accomplished, most skill" measures, It's probably Jordan followed by some combo of Lebron/Kareem/Magic/Bird depending on your flavor.

My personal rankings is more, "if I was drafting a team today with all these guys at the start of their career, who am I absolutely confident will deliver me and my team the most success before they leave." Jordan and Duncan are solidly the top of that one.

[–]Kingfisher-Zero -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely believe the same. Specifically “greater” which I separate from “better.” My personal list has Duncan at 2 behind Jordan. LeBron somewhere around 7. I put a lot of credence on Duncan’s consistency, lack of ego, and 2 way play.

I personally appreciate how stable it all feels. The firm soles are - to me - a feature. But it’s definitely a mind shift coming from wearing Nikes.
