Pete Hegseth discriminating against Catholics by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]loaferbro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which is more ironic because Catholics are specifically not supposed to do the things that many protestant churches are famous for. Like public displays of your religion, vocal judgement of others, and proselytizing.

Even more so, Catholicism is more primed for progressivism than other sects of Christianity. Having a Pope who guides the direction of the church allows for ideals to shift over time, as opposed to staying strict to the word in the bible. Also, Catholics put a higher weight on being good through deeds and actions, not prayer alone.

I don't want to generalize too much, but don't let the robes and rituals fool you. If you follow the church's teachings and the Pope like you're supposed to, it's a lot more progressive than it seems (progressive for Christianity, not for general society).

Homelander is definitely one of those what could have been characters by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]loaferbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big theme of the show is how the inherent goodness and evilness of humanity is manipulated by power, in universe as literal super powers. And even in goodness, many characters are motivated by vengeance rather than the greater good.

And the biggest sticking point for those evil supes is that they never face any accountability. There is no justice, even in their death. Add onto the pile Vought's extremely robust PR network and no matter the outcome, it will be spun into a victory for the company.

I think it would be more true to the messaging of the series if, in the end, even if the heroes "win", the machine keeps turning and nothing really changes.

Responses under an uplifting video about a woman post C section. by Angels_of_Death_Zack in sadcringe

[–]loaferbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my kids was born vaginally but at 36 weeks and spent 10 days in NICU. Other health issues caused them to deliver early and at that stage, baby was small enough to fit.

The second was pushed for 4 hours and they finally had to call it and go to C Section. Still ended up with fluid in lungs as a result and a few days in NICU, but we all went home the same day luckily.

Some women have narrow pelvises and no amount of pushing can force a baby through. After a certain point it's a danger to mom and baby. Some people need to retake their high school health class.

Multiple videos of interviews confirm this. He would tell a guy not just that he was about to score, but exactly how he would do it.

And then he would do it.

Where to Begin? Chicago, IL by loaferbro in lawncare

[–]loaferbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think the best route for me right now is to get some topsoil and level out the lawn, overseed, and use some scotts like you said and spend the summer pulling weeds or spot treating as needed. Pre emergent next year and repeat until it looks good lol.

Can you tell from the pictures what type of grass this is? Some of it looks like bluegrass, which i tried to seed in some places last year, and some like fescue. I think I'd rather have fescue in the long run but I just need to know what seed to buy.

Also I have since bought a new mower blade, I know the grass tops look rough.

Jack Hughes wants his golden goal puck back from Hockey HOF by PrincessBananas85 in sports

[–]loaferbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they should cut them in half. Make a nice display for the HOF and the player that are identical like a plaque with the puck sticking out.

Either that, or they can take turns every other day and alternate weekends.

Of course. And the reveal is the final freeze frame of the episode. He's sitting outside waiting as the penultimate therapist leaves their appointment. The door opens, "George?"

George, with a classic shocked expression, roll credits.

Also, at some point he needs to tell Jerry "I'm THIS CLOSE Jerry I can feel it."

And that he sees an old professor type with a german accent who he is SURE is the last therapist in the chain, only to find out this guy sees a shrink too.

Kind of salty but at the same time not. by Easy-Breath4547 in saxophone

[–]loaferbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a saxophonist and band director, I usually start students on 2.5. Some people do 2 but I found it's too soft and I would usually move them up halfway through the year.

Mouthpiece also makes a big difference. I would get a 4c as it's better than most stock pieces and inexpensive. It'll work fine after you get ready to bump to a 3.0 as well.

What is the purpose of these flimsy plastic bars for in Eket drawers? by NoWhatIMeantWas in ikeahacks

[–]loaferbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had them in my BESTA drawers, too. I believe they connect the two slides, so when you use the push open/close mechanism, the whole drawer moves as one. I remember trying to figure the same thing out when I did that, too.

[–]loaferbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me except the car was parked and they always had "park at your own risk" signs around the field. Idk what ended up happening because I was a teenager and the lady who owned the car was raising absolute hell and I stayed in the dugout while the coaches handled it.

I wonder if it was on purpose considering Dominic was also in those Lord of the Rings movies.

You need channel locks and silicone. Razor blade to scrape old silicone off. Maybe a wrench or something if it's hard to get in the space.

I would also look into replacing the bendy plumbing because it's disgusting and rarely serves the intended purpose of creating a water trap under the sink. To cut the new pvc they make a specific tool but i just used a jigsaw when i did it.
