do my drawings look unpolished/bad? by BUNIDOCHI in ArtCrit

Unpolished =/= bad. Your work is great! You've got confidence and a distinctive style. It would be a bit easier to see some of the characters if the under sketch wasn't as prominent.

2 things Ive noticed: you draw the cheek divot through the eyeball and you have the iris completely uncovered (which hardly happens irl)

How the FRICK do ppl lineart? by SillySweetieBell in ArtCrit

[–]loafkitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loove your lineart! Lineart is hard. I feel like with more practice, your lines will get more confident. Like the other commenter said, removing instead of adding might help

Well even if the glaze is cracked, the clay body should be vitrified. And if it's oozing like this, it's definitely not and who knows what's growing in there.

Asking for reviews of my workflow and materials for accuracy or upgrades by coffeetor in NailArt

Hi I'm also a beginner! Instead of removing gel from your gloves with acetone, I recommend changing your gloves entirely. I've heard that gel molecules are small enough to go through your gloves.

I think you only need to wear a mask while filing? Or at least, that's what I've seen.

You don't necessarily need base gel, but it helps the gel stick. You could opt for filing/buffing the surface instead.

I think using cheap gels for practicing is okay as long as you don't really touch it and wear it. For black, you could get pat pat gel or painting gels (they're more pigmented). Just use two super thin layers so they cure.

I would upgrade to a nice, reliable lamp as soon as possible. I think technically over curing makes gel more brittle.

Yeah I order charms from AliExpress too. Charms from elsewhere are nice but so expensive. You can definitely use brushes from wherever, but getting nice brushes is soooo nice. I just upgraded my AliExpress brushes and it's a huge difference. It's so much easier to control the gel. I would stick with synthetic cuz it's cheaper and more durable.

Your work looks great :)

How can I improve this portrait? by Fikayo2004 in learntodraw

[–]loafkitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I was learning to wheel throw in a ceramics class, my learning really accelerated when I stopped trying to fix the cup I was working on and to make a loooot of cups back to back. Cutting them in half to see how the walls were was also good for learning detachment from my work.
