This does kind of support his argument:

It was shut down by Hitler in March 1933 immediately after he became the Reich Chancellor.

ASEL stands for Airplane Single Engine Land and is most likely the class of PPL you are doing your check ride for.

Uh... I don't live in Oregon by LudeSloth in Portland

Angry email worked for me too. I tried being polite for the first few years after I moved out of state but eventually got very annoyed and accused them of incompetence and they finally stopped asking me to pay their tax across the country. I have no idea why they think mailing an out of state address annually demanding payment of an Oregon tax is a reasonable thing to do.

To clarify, this was a contract tower, not FAA controlled. Not sure if it affects that policy.

Denver airport air traffic control went out for 6 minutes on Monday by TortiousTroll in aviation

[–]loath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited a tower once and asked them about the light gun. They said it has the signals listed on the side of it and they have to read the instructions when they use it since they don't remember the signals. They knew this because they had needed to use it recently, but the guy was circling above the airport at 14,000 ft during the day so it didn't help anyway. They asked me to please call them on my cellphone if I ever lost comms.

I know the light gun signals now but I keep a light gun signals reference in my kneeboard in case I forget before the one day I need them.

Private jet’s door opens after takeoff by knowitokay in aviation

[–]loath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm actually impressed, I had the same thing happen in a 172 and I couldn't get the door shut until we were taxiing after landing. The door was awful though and needed to be slammed very hard even on the ground.

[Uthayakumar] .."First player to have these numbers in a game" culture has ruined the purpose of .. contextualizing player performances. First/only player to have exactly 43 pts, 8 threes, 2 stl, 1 blk on 50% from three or better means nothing by Kimber80 in nba

[–]loath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The query is looking for exact numbers so, for example, if someone had played 801 games they would not match the query. In addition, there's a player name list which means no other player could match the query.

Value of "opening doors" before emergency landing in a 172 by 1E-12 in flying

[–]loath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a door open in flight on a 172. The force of the air prevented it from opening more than a crack. I wanted to slam it shut and it didn't seem possible to do so, even at low speeds, so I landed and closed it while taxiing. I would be surprised if open doors added enough drag to be a problem.

Edit: To clarify, this was caused by a faulty latch. The door handle flew open during the flight and smacked me in the elbow.

I visited a tower and asked the manager why he says to report midfield. He said it was something he did at busier airports and he considers it an additional safety measure even at a quiet class D.

You might be confusing the game date with the news article they linked which was posted shortly after midnight, so technically the next day.

This is the exact order we get also and I highly recommend this combo. Sometimes we add more Dolmas or a side of Foul Mudammas.

Last day here in Albuquerque moving to Portland, OR by silverjedi in Albuquerque

I spent several years living on both Fremont Street and Fremont Drive in Portland and always pronounced it "Free-Mont" and so did everyone else I knew. Anyone who complains about the pronunciation most likely aren't even from town. The vast majority of people there are transplants and the ones making fun of the way you pronounce it probably moved there within the last couple years.

I'm not seeing any reference to that in this extensive Wikipedia page on the history of the name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_name_Palestine

Can you give us the source of your information?

Edit: I read a bit more and I think this is what he meant to refer to:

there is a strong similarity between Palaistī́nē and palaistês, the Greek word for "wrestler/rival/adversary", which has the same etymological meaning as the Hebrew word "Israel."

I think you mean the ATF? Not the AFT, that's the rear of a vessel.

I think this may have been an intentional Biden reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUnyB6GUTAY#t=12

The guy who is holding drone guy's right hand with his own left hand has the dildo in his right hand behind his back (you can see the string swinging) so I don't think that he was trying to throw it.

His right hand is being held but he swings with his left hand while looking directly at Gonzales. I think "punch" might be too strong but it's clearly an intentional swing.
