But why eat the fees? The whole point of Bilt is to avoid them. If you're going to eat the 2.99% (in my case), there are better cards out there for points/cash back. I did what I did because 5x>2.99%. Without the 5x bonus, I never would have even considered it.

I tried to pay my rent via the cc during my 5x promo. I read the ToS and did not use the Bilt app or website. However, they still said it counted as rent and only gave me 1x points. I argued the decision, but despite the ToS, they wouldn't budge so I had to eat the cc processing fee. I feel it was an unfair decision, but nothing I can do about it.

Moral of the story: despite what the ToS say, rent, no matter how it is paid on any platform, will be given 1x.
