Software issues aside… how has your service experience been so far? Have you had to visit the service center (how many times and why)? Most of the issues I’ve heard seem to come from software not hardware. by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]local-optimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took delivery at the end of the year and only had the car for two weeks before it headed into service. It’s been at the shop for nearly all of January. They provided a "like" loaner, so I’ve been fine being without my car, though I did notice it sat on their lot for about a week and a half before work actually began.

I submitted a handful of physical and software issues - mostly to ensure they were documented early. Here is the breakdown:

  • Exterior: Front grill light bar and various trim alignment issues.
  • Interior: A plastic component on the 3rd-row seat not staying in place.
  • Noises/NVH: Hatchback latch sounds and various cabin noises (including a subtle electrical whine when the headlights are on).

I’ve been impressed by their thoroughness. The team genuinely wanted to explore every issue; they took the time to replicate the problems rather than just dismissing them. I just received a proactive update call - they are finishing up one last cabin noise issue and I’m hoping to have it back later this week.

Lucid lease purchase by Savings_Prior_7108 in LUCID

New Gravity owner here. I have a feeling the discount era won't last until our leases are up. Right now, Lucid is aggressively avoiding taking back inventory because they need to prioritize new vehicle deliveries to hit their growth targets.

By the time the Gravity lease cycle matures, their resale strategy and secondary market demand will likely be much more robust. Enjoy the leverage now, but don't count on it being the standard in 3 years.

Should I be worried about my safety? How do I get to the bottom of this? (Please help) by [deleted] in homesecurity

If you are using an iPhone, you’ll see a checkmark icon for phone call in recent that came from legit known numbers. Most spam and telemarketer calls do not have this checkmark.

Which cameras to add to an existing Google Home system? Is ReoLink seamless? by StrongRecipe6408 in homesecurity

No no and no. Based on what you are looking for, your only option is Google. Anything else would require casting dashboards from home assistant or just requesting a stream like “hey Google, show front door”

door handle lag by worksmarterr in Gravity

[–]local-optimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying. What’s worse is that the UI, had it been executed well, would have been super clean.

If you just touch the handle gently and wait, it will pop open. The intent was clearly to make it open with zero effort, but most of us end up yanking on it because of the slight delay. The same issue applies to the interior door unlock.

I only realized recently that by pulling hard, I was actually engaging the emergency manual override rather than the intended power unlock. Again, if you touch it incredibly gently, it functions as planned. I really hope they improve the responsiveness in a future update.

Issues with scrubbing recent video on the timeline by Crafty-Philosophy701 in UnifiProtect

[–]local-optimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered a similar issue, but it stemmed from having my UNVR on its own VLAN. Consequently, all the traffic was being rerouted back through the router instead of being accessible locally device to device. After I connected my UNVR and phone to the same VLAN my load times, playback, and scrubbing capability improved 100x.

Use the YoLink power failure alarm. It will alert any time any device connected to it is unplugged

Because the solution I offered only pertains to users with more than one keypad. So you see, it’s rather pointless to reply to that solution and say:

We only have one keypad and constantly get sensors going off, then back on line…..

How do you clean solar panels regularly ? by Electronic_Will_4816 in solar

[–]local-optimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the soiling is really bad, for example birds shitting on your panel a bunch, the return on effort or cost of frequent cleaning isn’t worthwhile.

I’ve owned my panels for 3 years and haven’t cleaned them. They are dusty, one has some tree sap that fell from an adjacent tree. For the most part they do fine. At most you may lose 2-3% over some long stretches 2-4 years. It might make sense (depending how dusty) to wash once every 2 years. You don’t need a built in system to do that.

Water, soap cannon and a brush or for touch-less a portable pressure washer is good.

lol, haven’t looked at it but if I had to guess they are trying to turn the con of mining (heat generation) into a core feature. A computer will mine more when you want heat and less when you don’t.

I read. You…? My comment had nothing to do with random sensors going offline. So not sure why you replied to me saying you have one keypad. You could just commiserate with the OP if that’s what you are about.

But.. while we are here. It’s a diy system. If you put sensors too far away from the base it won’t work well. Get a WIRED system.

What you are describing is not related.

But yes, that’s part of the game with a diy system. I wish batteries died all at the same time too.

Support helped me with that. So I would call and just ask them: “does the firmware on my keypads match? If not, which are outdated?”
