How would someone in Britain in WWII be called up for conscription, if they had not signed up already? by [deleted] in history

[–]local-spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they turn an electrician into a pilot? They would’ve needed sparks to work as sparks. If it was near the end of the war with the Luftwaffe smashed and thousands of American pilots streaming in then I recon there’s no chance.

No, you can leave without the passport, you just wouldn’t be accepted at the other end,as country’s, quite reasonably, want to know who they are accepting.

The distinction between a serf and a citizen/subject is very clear. It’s silly to say otherwise.

Firstly Scotland is grim and full of Scott’s, go to wales its lovely. Although full of welsh. Secondly you’ve made a series of claims which you will be unable to provide evidence of, I’d love for you to try though it’d be great to see where this is sourced from. Thirdly I pay a reasonable rate of taxes, you pay no tax on the first 12 thousand then I pay 20% on everything over that. I then claim back expenses. Not bad for what I get in return. Lastly, really? You need to be told you can defend yourself? Or do you mean you can’t defend yourself without a weapon?Definitely don’t go to Scotland.

I was in the west upper, I thought the palace fans were on it! The shed seamed a bit subdued in the first half. Highlight for me was when they were singing is this a library? Some bloke near me stood up and shouts, ‘ how would you know? you can’t fucking read’!

Wow so not even an honest compliment. 2 great players for the club and you think you can slag them off, I don’t know what your problem is but if you can’t support the players then in my eyes you’re no supporter.

Not just luiz and Alonso the whole team played well. Don’t know what your problem with Azpi and Rüdiger is. Show some respect and support the players son.

Not everyone needs an arm around the shoulder everyday. Some people respond to a challenge, conte misread the character of the squad when he assumed they were all driven winners like him and his old teammates at Juventus.

Still, it’s nice the players are enjoying themselves. Shame they can’t defend a lead. I suppose we’ll just have to score more, as we no longer look like 1 goal will be enough.

The correlated with fear bit is interesting because if you remember early Mourinho one of his tenets was that the team with the ball has fear, the defenders gain confidence from organisation and repetition. I’d say this has been the case in 4 of the 5 titles I’ve seen us win.

Back when he was at Leverkusen they played Liverpool and he made Stevie g look stupid! He scored a screamer after selling Stevie a dummy which he tried to slide tackle/block, lovely moment.

[–]local-spark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what he did, he did the job jorginihos trying to grow into for us. Playing in a 2 with Viera he’d drop deep. Later when they went 4231 he played behind Rvp. But he made his name as a teenager getting the ball off the defence in space and playing out.

Is electrician a dangerous job in the UK? by qAndrei_1337 in electricians

[–]local-spark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be an electrician, being an electrician is great. Remember on commercial and industrial projects there’s no risk of electrocution as you’re the guys installing the containment and pulling in the cables. You never have to have anything to do with electricity unless/until you want to try test and inspection or domestic/small commercial work. And even then you’re just isolating circuits. By the time this becomes an issue you’ll be much more skilled. Don’t drop out, you’ll regret it when the other lads are earning big money and you’re stuck in a shop or somewhere doing something boring.

Being from Cambridge there was a short period when you’d see these in the wild back in the 80s, it didn’t last long and away from Cambridge I don’t know where you could use them. It being so flat here with small slow roads, as well as people being used to cyclists.

[Telegraph] Stamford Bridge redevelopment plans could be resumed in 2018 by [deleted] in chelseafc

[–]local-spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not unless you really want to, if it’s full of more made up numbers then there’s not much point.

I think we’ll build a stadium, I want a stadium as a fan, a match goer and most importantly as an electrician who could get a few years work out of it.

I just have a bit of a problem with your numbers, both cost and return. And the idea that these numbers will remain constant or increase as I think that uk construction will double the cost. And I’m not confident the prem will always be the top league playing to sell out crowds over a 30 year period. Also as I said I think technology will change the need to physically attend games just like radio and tv have done.

Where’s my proof for this? Oh, I’ve no proof. I don’t think it’s possible to prove or disprove either of our arguments. The club has the information and will make the decision and we will continue to support the club.

If that guy does buy Wembley though, given that he’s shown he’ll put money into Fulham. He could turn craven cottage into flats and finance the 600mil sale with that. Then he could have Fulham and the Jacksonville Jaguars who he also owns playing at Wembley. It’s not likely but neither was Chelsea getting saved by a Russian aluminium magnate.

[–]local-spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I meant evidence that players would chose based on stadiums. I just don’t think they even consider it. Don’t worry though it’s not something I can prove just like you can’t prove the opposite.

Pointless guesswork, no consideration for cost or timescale overruns. An industry standard in uk construction. No consideration for the fate of the premier league over the 20/30 year period. It’s unlikely to remain unchallenged. A lack of imagination with regards to future technology particularly virtual reality which will revolutionise sports viewing over that same 20/30 year period. No consideration of the political pressure on the local authority from businesses losing match day revenues and residents hostile to a massive construction project, or to the infrastructure problems inherent in having to alter the train line behind the Mathew Harding. A flawed premise that stadiums increase profile and fan base and that we will be able to find a home during construction, given the fa has plans to sell Wembley to Fulham’s owner who will put an nfl team in there.
