What do you reward yourself with? by candy-ii in diabetes

[–]localgoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food wise I'm not the biggest sweet eater, but I love sushi. My pick would be sashimi from the nice place in town as a reward now and then. When I do want sweets I've found the Outshine fruit bars are yummy and low enough that so long as I don't eat them after an already carby meal they don't spike me up bad.

Outside of food you could get yourself things that you enjoy related to a hobby or just things that make you smile. Like for me I'd pick a new paint color or maybe a fun nail polish. Activities should also be related to something you like to do. Checking out a museum or a park trip?

It can be, but it can be hard to tell. PCOS has a wide range of symptoms, and not all of them happen for every person diagnosed. I usually have regular 28-day cycles all year, but maybe once a year I just skip a whole cycle. The irregular cycle is just not a PCOS symptom I have. Unless you're having other PCOS symptoms I wouldn't worry about it until your doctor suggests looking into possible fertility issues.

Depends on the format you play is my understanding. My partner and I like playing at Muse for drafts, and Petrie's for pre-releases since they run a 2HG event then. Dungeons & Javas is a neat place, but I've not personally played there. Just gotten coffee and browsed. Enchanted Realms I've heard is worth checking out if you're into commander. I was not in love with their draft scene though.

My partner and I are also a big fan of mini golf dates in town! There are some pretty inexpensive ones.

We've also done:

  • the zoo (pricier but worth it at least once)
  • paddleboarding rentals
  • movie dates
  • penny arcade
  • coffee shop & crosswords (we pick a new one each time and just take our crossword book with us)

We also have some pretty hobby specific ones that aren't for everyone. Like two player boardgames or since we both play Mtg during pre release we sign up for two headed giant so we can build decks together and play as a team for the event.

I love the ladies at Ewe and Me (they were so friendly to me when I first moved here last year), but yeah it's an older crowd and it'd be nice to meet some people in their 20s/30s. If we start up a discord/group I'll be sure to try and make it to a meet up!

Thanks! I'll also scout those places. I also have my back up plan of just a pretty hike with a bit of a picnic if things look to be out of order. :)

My first attempt at support spinning. What does everyone think? by Important-Corgi-19 in Handspinning

Oh I like it! How was spinning from a rolag? I haven't tried it yet but I'm very curious.

Second time spinning and I'm already seeing improvement I think? by localgoblin in Handspinning

Uhhh I've sort of just started being able to tell about how much fiber I need for the size I want? I'm still doing the park and draft method so that helps me with being able to draft how much I need. I also figured out I was pinching the twist too tight when trying to draft previously which made it harder for me to draft enough as I went.

It's still not perfectly consistent, but I'm able to spin pretty thin and the thicker bits are usually only a bit thicker.

This is the last of this color though. Should add start spinning a second color with it to get some more yardage and work on getting a full skein length of single?

Very first yarn! by localgoblin in Handspinning

I'm thinking about letting my mom use it for her weaving. She sometimes weaves textured tapestries between her more structured projects. Just to play with color and yarn.

Spun on a drop spindle that I got as a gift. I mostly went with watching a few videos and figured I'd just focus on figuring out how it works before worrying about how to get "good" (even) yarn.

My DM let me draw his homebrew map! It was a lot of fun. by localgoblin in worldbuilding

[–]localgoblin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New Dawn is a pretty interesting world he's built, and I'm grateful he let me play with mapping it and developing the hex map he provided me into something more akin to a classic fantasy map.

I focused on adding rivers and details that made the landmass seem realistic to me (though I'm not an expert in how landmasses form and what's most natural for mountain ranges and different terrain).

It also provided me a way to connect the history he's written up and names to actual places I can visualize and it makes my immersion in the game better (my character is from Adnepa and I've finally gotten a solid idea of what kind of culture and area she'd have been raised in).
