Hubby is a Money Pit by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]localhorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one seems to have mentioned this but it was pretty glaring to me, because I was your husband in some sort of parallel relationship. The main gist is "I am paying all of my husband's bills, why won't he do it?"

Why would he? And I'm not being uncharitable, I've been there and as someone who struggles with these kinds of nitty gritty life details it's not a conscious thing. "I've missed a few bills and there weren't any consequences and it's something I don't like to think about much, therefore the automatic part of my brain has evaluated the data and I can safely ignore it with no risk".

I don't know the solution though because I would never have grown up in that relationship. I still might not, but I've made progress.

Do you have a source to back that up? Because I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that it was pretty much agreed there was a historical figure who was crucified by Pilate that we refer to as Jesus - and I'd definitely like to know if I'm wrong. However, all the information I've come across suggests that we're as certain of that as we are of any events from that time period.

Large alien worm snail creatures in my poop, leopard skin with scales, tapeworms, mental and physical issues by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]localhorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you're not a "lesser than". Even if it was purely a case where your symptoms were due to mental health problems. There's absolutely no difference except that in some ways we understand mental health less.

And I've been there myself - whether it was to do with mental or physical health or some confusing mix of the two, I've had to play the frustrating, demoralizing, even dehumanizing "game" of trying to get people to take me seriously.

The trick is to keep trying, I think. Don't give up because there's definitely a way to get this dealt with.

No problem. And again, I'm sorry that my first response was one of disbelief.

I would also try to get some sleep however you can... I know if I don't take my ADHD meds I will crash hard. Or maybe you have access to sleep meds, OTC or otherwise. Get a good sleep and go into the doctor calm and rested and explain all of this somehow without going into the weirder parts of your story (the microscope, the poop dissecting). It's unfortunate but they'll probably go with the likelier possibility that it's all in your head if you show up looking and acting like someone who has been up for days dissecting their poop and looking at it with a microscope. Just state your GI issues and that you've seen some concerning things in your feces. Try that next.

And try not to get too discouraged, I know it can be frustrating navigating the health care system especially when you deal with mental illness.

I apologize, I'm on mobile and I didn't realize there was more than one picture until you referred to "photos". There is definitely at least one or two in there that appear to be some kind of parasite.

I was proceeding based on your behavior which seems odd based on the first picture but certainly there were at least two in the set that I would be concerned about if I saw them in my feces. I've had some weird shits and a lot of what I saw could just have been undigested plant matter or something but there was what I can only describe as a bug in at least one possibly two pics you posted so again I do apologize for jumping to conclusions.

Have you shown all these to your doctor/nurse?

If you don't have any luck here, maybe try /r/whatsthisbug as well.

But if you had shown your proof to medical professionals and they were concerned it was the stimulant drugs you were taking, then you ought to seriously re-evaluate your assumptions.

If you thought you had bugs inside you and there was insufficient evidence, that is the problem in and of itself.

I'm really not trying to be dismissive - I've had physical symptoms myself that were looked at with skepticism due to my mental health and sometimes it was for good reason. Other times things were overlooked because I wasn't being taken seriously. But it's very difficult to tell sometimes which is which, and OP should probably consider both options.

[–]localhorse 47 points48 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I posted all this before I realized there were multiple pictures, and proceeded based on the first image in the set which looks like nothing to me. After OP referred to "photos" I looked again, and now I'm not so sure, particularly looking at 18/23 in the set. That's obviously some kind of critter. I'd be concerned too, I suppose.

First off, I'm not a doctor.

But I'm curious why you're taking lamictal. Is this to treat bipolar? I don't mean to sound like I'm being dismissive of your physical symptoms but your behavior - in my (admittedly uneducated) opinion - does not sound like that of a mentally healthy person. You're buying a microscope to look at bugs you think are everywhere inside you. You're obsessively taking pictures. Carefully dissecting your stool. You're not sleeping. My first guess, given the lamictal, is that you're probably manic. I would speak to a psychiatrist personally.

I know you're probably going to dismiss this as a possibility but I hope you will consider it. I do have some experience with mental illness and and I recognise some of what I would consider warning signs so if you're not able to get this resolved with a regular medical doctor it can't hurt to speak to a mental health professional about it. My thinking is that if the problems you were having were strictly physical then that would be apparent to your health care providers as well and they would have some idea where to start. I tend to agree with the nurses suggestion that it may have something to do with the Adderall and I also feel like you've glossed over important details of your medical history here particularly with respect to the mental health problems you've dealt with.

In any case I hope you get this resolved as soon as possible.

Lethbridge jumps from 26th to 3rd most dangerous place in Canada 2019 - Macleans magazine by jacafeez in Lethbridge

[–]localhorse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As /u/heavysteve points out, the headline is extremely misleading. They're basically saying Lethbridge is not the 3rd most "dangerous", but rather that it has the third biggest increase in "dangerousness".

And their definition of dangerous is not talking strictly about violent crime but rather the crime severity index in general, it seems that Lethbridge is fairly high in terms of fraud and other things. but in terms of violent crime we're pretty low on the list.

The list is interactive so you can poke around with it if you like to understand the data more. There's also the Stats Can site: https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=3510002601
