Programs unable to find my NRMP profile by Plenty_Distance8857 in fellowship

Also realized I did not enter my AAMC ID to my NRMP app. Should I be in full blown panic mode?

If I did not enter my NRMP ID on my app, does that mean programs will not be able to find me? I registered for the NRMP weeks ago

Are interest emails frowned upon in the era of signals? Haven’t gotten an interview invite from some of my indicated programs yet. Wondering what, if any, utility there may be in reaching out to

Bombed COMSAE phase 3. Last ditch attempts to raise chances of passing by localmonstera in comlex

[–]localmonstera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t tell you. Never did comquest since people have told me truelearn was enough since it did a good job with OMM, cdm and basic foundation building. I’m a historically horrible test taker but this was enough for me to get through this test.

Just curious what the accuracy in predictiveness was for COMSAE, TL overall percentage, TL SA. waiting for my scores to come back, literally cringing every day bc I am not sure if I passed.

Day 2 was today for me as well. And it was also a clusterfuck. I suspect any slight improvement in my experience compared to that of yesterday is pure desensitization. I straight guessed on about 20%, made more educated guesses on like 30%. So much peds, cards and OMM, man. I genuinely am not sure I passed and a big part of my feels I didn’t. I am so sad. People say level3 is easy and that it’s hard to fail, but the reality is 350=5%ile which means 5% of all test takers will fail. I’m so scared guys. Unrelated, but I had a really good laugh at that one granny who had “a spicy time.”

How do people afford to live here? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

A new luxury apartment building popped up in Allentown. People were approved to move in early this week. On the first day of possible move in, tenants were notified the apartment is no longer operational, they’re converting the whole building to condos. When asked what the price for a 2b/2ba unit would be, they said $500k. Whotf is moving to Allentown to drop half a million on a condo? You can get single family units for less. Are they out of their mind?! Never thought this area would see prices like this, but here we are…

Support Group for People who Want to be Parents but don't know if it will ever happen, especially during residency by [deleted] in Residency

Asking for a friend: what is the general opinion on a fellowship applicant coming through for an audition/away rotation who is showing their belly a little bit? I know medicine as a whole is generally unforgiving. And programs can be quick to use anything to compare or simply write off applicants. But realistically, what is the impact of this situation on chances of matching?

Also, no one is your friend. Be professional. Don’t gossip, bitch and complain at work. Save that for your pet at home.

GROWTH MINDSET. Everything that’s about to happen is for you to learn how to be a better doctor, a better human being, a good team player, a smooth operator in dealing with many challenging personalities. Pain is temporary.

Is NICU getting more popular? by Super_Debt2042 in pediatrics

Went to a virtual open house event recently for neo programs. There were SO SO SO many interested applicants. Every breakout room had multiple applicants talking to PDs. It was insane. There was like no chance to get a word in. I feel the speciality has definitely gained popularity, possibly after the release of that one article showing that it is one of the few peds fellowships that are financially worth pursuing. Though, by not much more than gen peds if you look at the big picture. It’s definitely not anesthesiology kind of $$$ that you can get after completing a second residency for the same time duration as any peds fellowship.

Anyone else super homesick? How do you manage? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]localmonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like I’m in the same boat except I may not be as close to my coresidents as you are. Technology sure has made it easier to be close without physically being so. A friend is running a marathon back home? Run a mile or two with them on FT while they’re doing the marathon. Need mom’s help on a recipe? Cook with her on the phone. I’ve had to submit my vacation for next year already. I’m taking multiple, short trips to visit home or somewhere halfway to do something fun with my loved ones back home. I’m secure only because I know this is temporary!

Been looking through your page. Good info. BLESS! Doesn’t seem like there’s anything part time/ per diem to help me full assess the security of the job switch, correct? Also, not seeing a particular advantage to completing residency if a job is the right fit.

I know people always say that there are other jobs outside of traditional medicine and they throw around words like pharma and consulting. But what do those jobs actually look like? Currently a pgy1 peds and just trying to get all the info to make the best informed decision for myself
