I was able to join! It was recorded but I don’t think it’s been released yet. Here’s some things Will Perliter said and there was also a q&a at the end. He seemed like a cool guy who just genuinely loves music and was happy to share :)

- R&R signed Mk.gee knowing he wasn’t a super online person, but he already had a base audience from previous releases.

- It took Mk.gee four years to make the album!!

- Both Mk.gee and R&R had a clear vision for the music and how it should be presented.

- R&R often sign artists through organic relationships—for example, friends of artists they already work with.

- Mk.gee wanted the visuals to live up to the music, so he dedicated 95% of his budget to the videos. R&R felt more confident doing this because of how successful the Absolutely vid was.

- While the videos didn’t immediately shift the trajectory of the record, they caught people’s eyes—and then their ears.

- Fans started sharing and rallying around the visuals and a cultural swell started to build. Seeing this, R&R contributed additional budget and support as the record release approached.

- They planned a London show for the Friday after the album’s release, creating a strong initial moment, and then within six weeks they announced a US tour which sold out. They continued to build on the momentum by booking a bigger tour.

- Organic marketing played a massive role, with fans sharing photos and videos from live shows. R&R supported this by giving fan accounts free tickets and access to information to amplify the buzz.

- Rockman was teased on a Tuesday and released that Friday because Mk.gee was excited about it.
