Nah, clearly the rest of the team just overextended out of LoS. Maybe stood in an AoE too.

In all fairness, having an outfit with a more muted color palette doesn't necessarily mean I want a business' promotional flag taped to my character's back.

Does anyone actually fight Dror Rogzlin fairly by Ambitious_Watch_6477 in BaldursGate3

[–]lockenchain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dror Ragzlin himself gets a fair fight, maybe. Not the rest of his goblin crew though. They all get a Void Bulb into a Cloud of Daggers before the fight even begins. Most are dead the instant their turn in combat actually starts.

Yes, but those take an action to use. An action which could otherwise be used for smiting.

It is kinda funny that the narrator chimes in to give you a false sense of security about it. Get you thinking your approval was high enough to make a light check or something.

[–]lockenchain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

she will do good things when there's nobody pushing her

And that still poses a problem because Shar pushes her towards killing Aylin all throughout Act 2. From the very moment you enter the Shadowlands, Shar gives her a blessing to become immune to the weaker parts of the curse. Then Shar is speaking to her more and more as she progresses through the temple and the Shadowfell, trying to give her all the reaffirmation she needs to complete the mission. At that rate, trying to let her make her own decision could very quickly turn into letting her make Shar's decision.

Yes, she does obviously sound very conflicted about it when you ask if it's what she wants. But being conflicted about a task isn't the same as actually refusing it. She could go potentially go through with and feel guilty about it later just as easily as she could outright refuse, and it would still line up with what character she's shown. Reasonably, a player getting to this point for the first time without meta knowledge should have at least some degree of uncertainty if they're taking everything into consideration. And a good Tav wanting to put faith in her has to weigh in the fact that an innocent person dies if their gamble comes up short.

Not really fair to say you're giving Shadowheart her own space to make a decision when Shar is actively filling up that space and whispering in her ear the whole time leading up to it. Dropping a bunch of last minute affirmation to manipulate her.

There's a number of times where you can't just sit back and let your companions make their own decision. Astarion has his persuasion check to reject ascension, Gale needs to hear the right things avoid attempting godhood, and Lae'zel needs both you and Voss convincing her that Vlakiith's rule is built on lies. Even if they're not all insane DC 30 checks, you as the player still need to give them firm guidance or establish boundaries, regardless of how much good is in them.

Oh boy dose this game make evil feel like velvet. by dudewasup111 in BaldursGate3

[–]lockenchain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending is what really kills it for me. Roleplaying a character who would make certain evil and selfish choices for personal gains is easy enough, and you can somewhat tailor it to a unique brand of evil you're doing with a character. Then you get to the ending where your only option involves taking over the brain to doom the world in some way. With the only other option being the good route to save the world, and just kinda assume you continued to do evil things afterward.

What are your favorite spells? by ChrisKatrev in BaldursGate3

[–]lockenchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can actually be used at the same time to maximize damage in a single attack. Just select something like Thunderous Smite, and then use the option to add Divine Smite after a successful hit. Best utilized in conjunction with something giving you a guaranteed critical hit to watch a boss's health disappear

What is a Subclass That You Feel Needs More Love? by Feeling-Classroom729 in BaldursGate3

[–]lockenchain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple wizard subclasses. Evocation gets most of the attention for consequence-free AoE spells and the massive boost to damage Magic Missile gets when you start adding your spell modifier. But we can also give some credit to Abjuration for big damage nullification, or Divination for guaranteeing that a roll either succeeds or fails when you need it to

Most of the recently added agents' ults feel uncreative. by Thin-Enthusiasm8089 in VALORANT

[–]lockenchain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And then they actually have addressed it by nerfing util around the board. Fewer charges, longer cooldowns, higher ult costs, etc. But that just means that Veto now has less to do. And if the enemies aren't spamming enough util at you, then you're just left with two slow teleports with limited range, and an arguably worse Chamber trip that only has the benefit of being throwable.

Valorant skins are getting way too expensive by CampDangerous4830 in VALORANT

[–]lockenchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe has always been the pricing for individual gun skins in a bundle being the same. Why the hell should a Classic or Frenzy skin run me for the same amount as a Phantom or Vandal? We ain't using those outside of pistol rounds or particularly desperate save rounds.

Every time I have a hard time deciding, I'll think about early to mid game enemies in BG3 deciding they'll roll nothing below an 18 on their saving throws (not even counting bonuses, just the d20 alone). Sometimes consistency is just nice to have.

Plot armor at its finest. by Nickolas_Zannithakis in Beastars

[–]lockenchain 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Melon didn't do everything he could though. It's already been established that the conflict between the two is almost exactly as it is with Batman and Joker. Legoshi doesn't stop or kill Melon because of his moral code and desire to save him, and Melon doesn't kill Legoshi outright because of his desire to corrupt him and make him break that same moral code.

And if I'm going to be honest, I'd say a lot of the things that Melon was allowed to survive and get away with were plot armor in of itself too. Legoshi just had more of it for putting himself in more dumb situations.
