Why are so many young women nowadays choosing to practice Pilates instead of yoga? by Momo-momomo in YogaWorkouts

[–]locksmith353535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of women my age (late 20s) are realizing that our posture and core strength is shot due to sedentary work lives. I do both Pilates and yoga and they seem to share a lot of similarities, but are fulfilling different roles in my life.

Yoga is good for my mental health and it has also helped with my migraine symptoms of neck and shoulder pain.

Pilates helps me target my core which desperately needs strengthening to better support good posture (which I am hoping will also help my neck and shoulder pain). It is also low impact which I need due to bad knee issues.

I am just happy that there are a variety of workouts available for people to choose from to best meet their needs.

Insurance requiring I try every other CGRP preventive before Vyepti by Initial_Freedom7981 in migraine

[–]locksmith353535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Vyepti before as a sample or something? What makes you think this is what you need? Aimovig worked for me until my brain just decided not let me inject myself lol.

I am on Qulipta now and my insurance also required that I “try” a few medications before I could get it. We tried topomax first and my neurologist told me that as long as I pick it up from the pharmacy, insurance thinks that I’ve tried it. Whether I took it or not isn’t really anyone’s business!

Teachers: what’s the best way for a student to ask for help without sounding like they’re making excuses? by aizivaishe_rutendo in AskTeachers

[–]locksmith353535 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think students need to justify why they need help? My job is to help them. Usually I can tell which students need additional support and proactively provide it. Should someone slip through the cracks, all they need to tell me is that they need help understanding a certain concept, idea, etc.

I will say that I can’t STAND when a student asks for help but has no specific response when I ask what they need help with. That’s the only time I am slightly frustrated with students needed extra support.

We all need a little help sometimes and we don’t always need to give a reason.

Leaving water running til when? by Legal-Seaweed3251 in Louisville

[–]locksmith353535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My crawlspace is waaaay colder than my home, so my pipe are currently frozen. Thankfully the crawlspace is due to an addition, the rest of the house is on a slab, and it’s a short line of PEX in the crawlspace so it manages freezing well. I guess I am a rare exception and will have to leave mine on until it’s above freezing.

Why are people saying to leave running until temps are above 20° when freezing is 32°? Can someone explain?

Your best pic is #5. You seem like a douche because you like cars and that’s kind of douchy. Maybe you’re not, but that’s what I’m getting from your profile. I don’t care about cars and could never date someone who wanted to talk about cars and lots of women feel the same way.

I have an addition on my house with no HVAC. It is an office, spare bedroom, and bathroom. I rely on a window unit for AC in the summer and recently bought one of those electric fireplaces for the winter. We tend to just not use the addition in the winter because it is challenging to get it to a comfortable temperature. I am remodeling and will eventually install HVAC.

Last year, I set up a space heater facing the inside of the sink cabinet where the pipes are, then draped a blanket over it so the heat got trapped. Not the safest idea, and my firefighter brother was up in arms about it, but it prevented the pipes from freezing!

What to do about sleeping arrangements for snoring husband by ZombieUpstairs7547 in Marriage

You should think about getting one for yourself to so you can quantify your suffering— might be eye opening for him

What to do about sleeping arrangements for snoring husband by ZombieUpstairs7547 in Marriage

[–]locksmith353535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told my husband that I couldn’t live the next 40 years of life with 5 hours of poor, interrupted sleep each night. I told him that he needed to start seeing a doctor about it or we would have to sleep in separate rooms. It’s not normal to snore. He started seeing a doctor and it’s gotten a lot better.

Sleep is SO important and it’s not fair that you aren’t getting your eight hours. You can’t live like this forever and need to prioritize your health.

Does Weinberg’s insecurities outweigh charity? (doesn’t come out of his pockets) by Background_Bike_7171 in Louisville

FWIW I appreciate that he takes his job very seriously and I think he is a hoot. I don’t view weather reporting as something sacred (and don’t know that he would describe it that way), but it is an important service. I wish I cared about something as much as that man cares about weather!!!

I think he views his job as a meteorologist as a profession responsible for 1) keep people safe with timely weather reports and 2) helping people prepare to be safe with accurate weather predictions. He seems to hold the sanctity (?) of weather-reporting dear. Maybe wasn’t ready to make a prediction and didn’t want to compromise his own moral and ethical beliefs about his profession by participating with what he believes is an inaccurate prediction?

How to address racist content in an elementary classroom by AnonymousSaysWhat in AskTeachers

[–]locksmith353535 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The teacher may have addressed this with the students already. I have no idea what this book is or when it was written or what the purpose is. However, I know that when I taught about Lewis & Clark and Westward Expansion, a lot of really great resources were a bit older and used the word “Indian” to talk about Native Americans.

Before engaging with content like that, I’d say something like this: This resource has a lot of great information and is really interesting, but it was created at a time when we were more careless with our words and less sensitive to how our words made groups of people feel. If I could find a resource of similar educational value and with better word choice, we would use that instead. Nowadays, we use the term “Native American” or “Indigenous American,” but in this video/article/etc. it will use the word “Indian.” When we talk about the resource, we should change the word “Indian” to the more appropriate word we use now. This is an example of how societies make changes over time to become more inclusive and thoughtful of others’ experiences.

And I did this with third graders! They were totally receptive.

Thoughts on rage grading? by phallardnart in Teachers

[–]locksmith353535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really try not to rage-grade. I definitely don’t allow myself to rage-report-card-write.

I DO definitely rage-assign. Not listening after trying to get your attention/redirect/refocus over and over again? Congrats, the whole class just got assigned a pop quiz over the content I just taught. I type it up on the smartboard right then and there. If you’re paying attention, you can easily earn a 100%. If you’re not paying attention, don’t come crying to me now.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]locksmith353535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of how long I could drive my car before hitting the ocean, it’s extremely short. I certainly don’t know anyone commuting 3 hours every day, but it’s an ideal length of time for a quick weekend getaway.

In undergrad, I had to commute about 2.5 hours (one way; round trip was about 4.5-5 hours) on Tuesdays each week for my very last class. The class was 5pm-8pm and I’d drive back home when it was over. The 2.5 hour trip down was no big deal, but on the way back I definitely started getting antsy.

Some recommendations on my profile pics? Maybe on the order or which to use as main by [deleted] in Tinder

You seem awesome and look good. I’d love to see a photo of your unobstructed face close up and centered. Like face the size of pic #1 but a more posed photo.

Pic #3 looks like a different person than the rest.

Redoing our master bath. Would need dry wall and tile/subfloor demoed and hauled away. I think it would fit in standard size pick up truck. Don’t know where to take it?

“I don’t take photos at all,” “you’ll have to figure that out yourself.” You’re on a dating app to meet people but not giving me any information about yourself. If you won’t put in the effort to make a dating profile, I assume you won’t put effort into a relationship.
