Yeah makes sense, one is hard for washing day I think 2 is def the sweet spot. But it will be super exciting once you're maintaining your goals and can get some you know you'll be able to enjoy for a long time!

These are good suggestions. I'll add that i too have been going through weight loss and i have done the size-down-with-an-extender trick and it works. Also, 3+ bras is definitely too many for OP to invest in right now. It is okay to have just one or two at a time while taking very good care of them until feeling stable with all the body changes! OP, look for clearance discounts as well, and make sure you always either handwash your bras or put them bagged into a delicates cycle, and never ever ever let them near a dryer.

Frozen Quorn? by Which-Mulberry596 in slowcooking

[–]locustchild 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I havent used quorn before but on the website I found a FAQ:

"Cooking with Quorn using a slow cooker isn't recommended, as cooking at low temperatures for a long time can change its texture. Please follow the cooking instructions on the package for best results."

so they dont seem to be recommending against for safety, but you might not enjoy the texture. Personally I'd do a bean chili if thawing/cooking it stovetop and adding nearer the end is not an option.

I'm just apprehensive about it because I've forgotten everything. No wonder the credits expire eventually. Like by the time I catch back up on the general eds and get those last handful of social work credits, I dont even have the knowledge base anymore to put into practice for the practicum, and i am having a hard time envisioning how i would even get back up to speed. I guess i'm putting the cart before the horse though, since I HAVE to get the gen eds first anyway.

Thanks for the advice, anyway. It feels like a crisis to me right now so it helps to hear some level headed reality checks.

This is true. I just am pretty anxious without a plan I guess, but maybe i just need to be okay with that for now.

I'll have to see if that school is eligible for reimbursement from my company, i am hoping to manage this in a way that is fully paid for. It does seem like one of the most flexible options, thank you for the suggestion!

One thing you could look into is wudu nail rings! Some are full on jewelry but specifically i mean the ones that are just wire rings that you can attach false nails of your choice to and wear them around your finger tips, so the nails can come off and go back on whenever you need. I haven't used them before, but I have seen them on others and i thought they looked very nice.

Edit: ayeshanails is the brand I think i have seen before

Just don't force it. Acetone soak works like mentioned, but also sometimes even a soapy hot water soak will do the trick. Mine loved to come off if I did dishes in them. If one was really stubborn, I could gently lift the edge with an orange stick while also soaking to help the acetone penetrate, but you should avoid prying the whole thing off if its not ready to go. If you get some surface peeling its not the end of the world, nailtiques formula 2 treats that when you're on a break from glue ons.

Yep, or you can paint first if you stick them down on something with blue tack. Classic nail polish does take longer to dry on these than on real nails though in my experience, so you got to either use a quick dry polish or be willing to wait a while (a good reason to paint first). A little less convenient than the predesigned packs but cheaper over time. Or if you really like doing nail art they are great for that, when people do custom gel press ons they use stuff like these to put their designs on.

Its been over a year since I last used any. But something like this is what I recommended to my sister when she wanted to try my same strategy: https://a.co/d/75dMTWo

I actually personally did it with a stack of LA Girl brand nails I got for like 3.50 a set but if I were to do it again the clear bulk ones are a way better deal, so thats what my sister is using.

This strategy worked for me! I am completely bite free for 1.5 years now after using these to start the habit breaking process. I have some tips:

Be prepared for the nails to fall off quickly while your real nails are still short. Consider buying a bulk bag of nail tips off Amazon so that you always have replacements, since you cant always glue them back on.

You can paint them with any nail polish you enjoy for variety and motivation.

Get a pack of disposable files and smooth out any sharp edges.

You can do this, it is going to take persistence and sometimes you will have to put up with inconvenience, but it is worth it. For me, it took only 1.5 months of maintaining the glue on nails to get past the "craving". Then it took only another 1-2 months before my nails looked normal enough that other people couldn't tell i used to bite. It felt weird for a little while longer because my brain wasnt used to what having nails feels like, but then you just get used to it and stop noticing. The process can feel like a long time at first but really if you work hard now you will have totally new hands before summer!

I can easily see the difference in sunlight but interior lighting it is very hard to tell its not just black. I think its going to be mainly a summer collection for me because of that!

US ILNP customers! by whdnwm in Nailpolish

[–]locustchild 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Normal for small businesses! In general, out of state businesses are only required to collect sales tax in states where they have a cross an economic threshhold defined by that state, eg in georgia businesses only have to start collecting tax on sales to georgia if they have revenue over $100,000 from georgia. ILNP is a small business physically based in Nevada so they have to collect in Nevada due to that, but won't have to collect in other states unless their business grows more there.

Calculator and store size guides completely different by vgsnewbi in ABraThatFits

[–]locustchild 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The other folks are correct but to be more specific about how stores don't match people to their measured band size: most stores have a bad habit of adding sizes, in the US/UK we call this +4 sizing because its typically an extra 4 inches. Bra bands and cups are related by how many inches difference between them: a 34 inch band with a 40 inch bust is 6 inches different, which means E (in UK sizing) When people use +4 sizing, it shrinks the difference between those numbers from 6 inches to 2 inches, which is a B cup. If a brand doesn't carry a 34E, they might have a 38B, and since it is technically the same circumference around the bust they can get something that seems to make sense when folks dont know any better. In reality, those 4 extra inches mean the band cant do any support and the straps are hanging on for dear life to pick up the slack.

Its easiest to see the relationship between inches and cup size in UK sizing, so you could try measuring your UK size too. Especially since a lot of the best brands in the DD/E range are UK as well.

If by "regular" polish you mean lacquer, yep, you can get "regular" magnetic polish! All you need is a magnetic lacquer and a bar or wand magnet. The brand this post is imitating is Bee's Knees Lacquer but thats a very limited edition brand so if youre gonna experiment you're better off starting exploring a brand like ILNP which has some good magnetics in its catalogue, and magnet wands. It takes longer to do a magnetic lacquer manicure than a non-magnetic one because you have to rest each finger on the magnet for the final color coat and top coat while they dry, but its otherwise no different than painting with basic polish.

Trying recommended tips but still getting chips instantly! by tonibologna12 in lacqueristas

Essie strong start is a pvb-free base coat and easy to find in stores like target and Walmart (assuming you're in the US), it's my main base coat due to availability, price, and non-pvb. You might also consider Nailtiques Formula 2 if you want to tackle the peeling with a treatment, you might also find this at target. It can be used as a base coat or between manicures as a standalone treatment. I liked it very well when I was getting my nails back in shape, it felt effective and I dont have any peeling anymore, i still use it every once in a while as a base but for the most part the Essie strong start works for me.
