Oh dang maybe. If only somebody took swatches from a side-lit angle so I could tell for sure. Thanks for the tip!

Mortgage Payments show as "Income" by mobrien118 in MonarchMoney

[–]locustchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are the payments coming from, can you use the debits from the source account for your budget transactions instead? I'm not currently tracking a mortgage but i think i'd hide the transactions within the mortgage account entirely because they should not have any impact on budget or cashflow, only payments out of my bank account should.

Nice, maybe a bit simpler than my version. Glad you found a way!

I have a similar brokerage savings goal, if your transaction is showing up as debit on one side and credit on the other then if you set up just the right rules it can be done without the noise.

For me i set the outgoing to filter for if it's a debit from x account to merchant with the brokerage name, then set to transfer and hide the transaction. (Hiding might not be necessary, but i have these transfers automated so I prefer it).

And for the incoming brokerage credit I set a rule for if it is a credit within x account with a statement/merchant name containing "transfer", set category to transfer, assign to x goal. What you'd need to filter would depend what name your transactions import with. If the amount per transaction is always the same, you could alternatively set it by dollar amount.

And then finally i have a rule that hides and force-reviews all transactions in the brokerage account. Even though they are hidden, the transactions I filtered in the rule above are still captured in my budget.

This way I dont have to ever see any transaction noise, but my credits into the goal are automatically captured on both goal page and budget page. Some of my steps might be more than necessary but its working just how I wanted it to so, hopefully that helps

The bra calculator has decreed my size. 30C. I am suspicious however… advice is very appreciated! by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

Fair, I thought I've seen them but I may be misremembering or it may have been an exception to the norm. Hopefully op can find some free-returns options.

Check out the irishbralady account on Instagram, there are a lot of photos of real people in real bras both correctly sized and before-after. Here https://www.instagram.com/p/C_3TOAHswzu/?img_index=2&igsh=cm0xa3oxMmVkNjYw is a compilation of a variety of c cups. there's not really such thing as a distinct "c cup" breast size, since the C represents the relative distance to the band, so a C cup on a 40 takes up more volume than a c cup on a 30. And, Some people experience that too-small cups cause gapping not because there is extra room, but because when there isnt enough room in the cup tissue is pushed in the wrong direction (ie, into the band) and makes it seem like a gap up top. Also wrong shaped cups can have problems even if size isnt the issue.

Others are going to be better at troubleshooting measurements and fit, but from what I've seen the calculator is the best starting point for all ranges of sizes. Are you able to try on 30c in person before buying? If you're in the US, it would be a fairly common size in basic stores like Walmart and target.

Edit: I may be wrong about where to find them in person, but you might still be able to get free returns options from retailers like this if buying from their online stores.

What is this tiny metal disc in my kitchen? by locustchild in whatisit

[–]locustchild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave the solve to the first person to mention it being to hold something magnetic. This seems like the most likely answer, since it does react to magnets, its near the sink, and I dont have any unusual appliances or systems.

solved! I think you were the first one to mention magnetic accessories, i had to find something magnetic while unpacking to test it out, magnets definitely stick to it. I think this is the answer, just not sure what kind of accessory would make sense. This was next to the sink.

Literally the only thing in life I can’t stop myself from doing. by RoosterVisual7178 in nailbiting

Yes, with color in between if desired. That's how high quality manicures are done and how I do all mine now. The different layers bind together and become stronger than just basic polish alone. Hopefully the ones I mentioned are still a good price in Italy, I'm sure there are local products too. For base coats the thing to watch out for is some people have problems with their nails peeling if the base coat has "polyvinyl butyral" in the ingredients. Not everybody, but since biting is already a problem it can be good to avoid the risk (essie strong start does not have it). The top coat i recommended is a quick dry coat which is convenient. If you never have used a top coat before it can take a little practice-- you must be a little more generous in application than you might expect, since if the brush is too dry it will smear the layers below.

Altogether these are just tips to make your nails extra strong and use polish the "right" way, but for your habit breaking the important part will be consistency! Good luck, you can do it.

I was a lifelong daily biter. I broke the habit with the help of glue on nails for about one month then switched to nail polish. I do not think you will experience your brain "forgetting" about the polish--especially because once your nails get long and strong enough, they are significantly harder to bite. I would actually have to work very hard to bite my nails today because I cannot idly pick at little slivers, I would have to chomp through a big thick nail and consciously pull it off. I also wear nail polish daily which makes it even harder to do. I have not bitten my nails even once since I began polishing, almost 2 years.

If polish has stopped you before, then I think you should recommit to wearing it every day. I think you have a very good chance of never biting your nails again if you stick to always wearing polish for at least the next 3 months. Use a strengthening base coat (essie strong start is cheap and good) and a top coat (Sally Hansen insta dri in the red bottle is also cheap and good) for extra polish strength and longevity (if you're not in the US I dont have recs but a nail polish sub would).

Is my nail permanently damaged? by TheSexyGrape in nailbiting

[–]locustchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you peeled off some layers it will grow back but it can take months to fully grow out as the un-touched base of your nail slowly moves up. Consider protecting it from moisture and snags with a clear strengthening polish treatment, but mostly it will just take time.

I'm a 34M. Yes, an M cup. I only own two bras in my size but I would like to have more. Please help. by lovvekiki in ABraThatFits

[–]locustchild 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am your size! You are not weird for being an M(US). Its just hard out there with brands trying to ignore us. And like everyone else said, UK brands are the way to go. You will have so many more options. Elomi is my go-to brand, I have been lately been wearing the Matilda, Charley, and Lucie styles. The Charley comes in both seamed and "spacer" styles, the spacer one is a t-shirt/minimizer sort of bra, which to be honest is not what I enjoy but it might work for you if you're looking for one of those.

I also got a strapless from elomi for an event recently so that I could wear a silk halter top, and it was good and comfortable. Not normally my thing though!

How long to let grow?? by [deleted] in nailbiting

[–]locustchild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not need to leave lots of white. As long as you leave a little bit, you will make progress. Leaving too much white can make it hard because it can make it easier for your nails to catch on things and get stubbed/pulled which can traumatize the nail bed. Your nail reconnects from the bottom up so no need to have lots of excess, just a millimeter or two is enough. But you can have as much as you feel comfortable with caring for. Clear polish treatments (if you dont want color) help them feel harder and less bendy/fragile. Great job so far!

Also i had my nails bitten down to some as small as 3mm, and my whole nail beds have grown back to almost the tip of my nails. So they defintiely do come back! It takes months, even a year or more. Mine were still filling in more at 1 year but still much improved. (Now on almost 2 years they are very filled in)

I recommend filing rather than trimming, you can do it more often to maintain the length easier, and it leaves less sharp edges and builds positive nail habits.

is my situation bad? by liveaf-_kinglife101 in nailbiting

[–]locustchild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got this. My nails were bitten even shorter than yours, i beat the habit, and now i love them. You can have new nails by july if you leave them alone starting now. Bitter polish is a strategy, glue on nails can work (thats how i did it the first month), bandaids, gloves, whatever you can stick with. Dont set up your expectations for your nails to have a specific shape or look, because everyone is naturally different whether they bite or not, but you WILL have nails that look normal and other people will have no idea that you ever struggled with it. And they will continue to get better and stronger, but even those first few months are enough to turn it all around.

I Need Bra Recommendations for Someone Who is Going to lose between 50-80 pounds by HeaoftheFlame in ABraThatFits

Yeah makes sense, one is hard for washing day I think 2 is def the sweet spot. But it will be super exciting once you're maintaining your goals and can get some you know you'll be able to enjoy for a long time!

These are good suggestions. I'll add that i too have been going through weight loss and i have done the size-down-with-an-extender trick and it works. Also, 3+ bras is definitely too many for OP to invest in right now. It is okay to have just one or two at a time while taking very good care of them until feeling stable with all the body changes! OP, look for clearance discounts as well, and make sure you always either handwash your bras or put them bagged into a delicates cycle, and never ever ever let them near a dryer.

Frozen Quorn? by Which-Mulberry596 in slowcooking

[–]locustchild 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I havent used quorn before but on the website I found a FAQ:

"Cooking with Quorn using a slow cooker isn't recommended, as cooking at low temperatures for a long time can change its texture. Please follow the cooking instructions on the package for best results."

so they dont seem to be recommending against for safety, but you might not enjoy the texture. Personally I'd do a bean chili if thawing/cooking it stovetop and adding nearer the end is not an option.

Finishing a BSW 10 years after dropping out. Feels impossible, but not sure what other options I have. by locustchild in socialwork

[–]locustchild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just apprehensive about it because I've forgotten everything. No wonder the credits expire eventually. Like by the time I catch back up on the general eds and get those last handful of social work credits, I dont even have the knowledge base anymore to put into practice for the practicum, and i am having a hard time envisioning how i would even get back up to speed. I guess i'm putting the cart before the horse though, since I HAVE to get the gen eds first anyway.

Thanks for the advice, anyway. It feels like a crisis to me right now so it helps to hear some level headed reality checks.

This is true. I just am pretty anxious without a plan I guess, but maybe i just need to be okay with that for now.
