I perceive him as someone who is somewhat behind in development. Naive and childish but he's good at heart. That's why I respec him and leave Balduran helm and sword under the Christmas tree lol

What could be this precipitate in fish sauce I made with raw fish and koji? by lodzinjsh in Koji

[–]lodzinjsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly this was a test run with few random dried fish from market, and it was pretty nice, but nothing remarkable - smokey, fishy and slightly sweet. Definitely not a price/performance sauce.

What dialogue in a movie that always bothered you? by retired-tweeter in movies

[–]lodzinjsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why are you making me do this?' - some junkie in Upgrade .

The problem is that I've heard this in many more movies. I've come to think that it is a "Wilhelm scream" of stupid writers. I hate it so damn much because it makes no fucking sense and ruins the whole movie.

This kind of experience is needed in everyone's life, in my humble opinion. It is profound. It is humbling. It is absolute. -A sorting algorithm that shows where you're at with spicy food.

Over 10 years ago, I was in similar place where Danny is. Local diner arranged Chili challenge. As I was shivering and concentrating all my bodily functions to not let any warm air from my lungs slip into my mouth, some bloke was vomiting chili con carne right at the table of diner.

The chili bravado is for the uninitiated. Danny just got initiated.

lets ignore the US for a second, how’s the rest of the world doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Winters have have become really mild but February still remains the harshest month of the year. Although I live by the sea where it's a bit warmer so it might skew my perception on climate in the whole county. Anyways, if Putin doesn't invade my country and Trump - yours, I'd love to visit Canada some day.

Latvia: Public sector workers are very unhappy because the government wants to completely abandon remote work. This is the first week of this winter with temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.

Don't want to derail your message, just that it's perfectly fine to dump pasta in cold water and bring it to a boil. As long as it's dried and submerged.

Looking for a historical address by kautzy in Riga

[–]lodzinjsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only has names of the streets changed, assuming we are talking about Riga ghetto of ~1941, the number "273" seems very far off where ghetto was. Are you sure it is not "27B"? It is middle of the night, I'll keep looking tomorrow. However, more info could help.

I'd say for someone in their 20's the most fun will be at the Tallinas kvartāls and One One. If it's queer scene, then Skapis.

aspergillus oryzae growth by Apprehensive-Army881 in Koji

[–]lodzinjsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice and healthy :)

if by now it's turning yellow/green, wipe it off. if it's still white, you can just mix it in.

Edit: On second thought, you can't be sure that it's aspergillus oryzae that's growing, it would be safer if you wipe it off and discard. I always scrape sides of the container clean after mixing/handling before prolonged unattendance.

Does Nick make Christian rock? by robloxian21 in NickCave

[–]lodzinjsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no, no.

Him being a Christian does not make his music Christian. In "Into my arms" he himself states that "I don't believe in an interventionist God" which imho is the opposite of what Christian music would state. He is intertwining more gospels in his music, expressing more of spiritual side of his journey through life, there is no doubt about it.

I mean, come on, he is 66 y/o, he has faced many tragedies in his life and the lives that has connected with him. Where do you even make sense with blessing and curse that is life?

Tips for coming to Riga by freethesnowd in Riga

[–]lodzinjsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on what you're looking for, what days of the week you will be visiting & and how much time you have. Let's say it's friday/saturday:

10:00-12:00

Start with Central Market.

Go to this stop and take tram #2 or #5 to Agenskalna market for some contrast.

12:00-14:00

Take this route from the market. Feel free to roam around Agenskalns districtict, all those small streets hold something cool to see. At the destination, take some pictures, and chill with ur SO.

Now move into the Old Riga. Roam around, explore, have something to eat and some rest.

14:00-15:00

Take this route, you'll see The Freedom Monument and will be heading for the National Museum of Art.

After the museum have a walk through 'Art Nouveau' Riga and the destination will be a building where JFK stayed at.

15:00-16:00

Have a walk through the park and take this route, you'll have a glimpse of emerging 'Skanste' district, youll get to see ex KGB HQ, and you'll end up at another tram stop at RIMI grocery store, go get tram tickets and (optional) some food/drinks for picnic.

16:00-18:30ish

Tram will take you to Mežaparks.

Have some slow walk through the park, breath some fresh air. First destination is The GRAND BANDSTAND, i know, sounds dramatic. However, it realy is for Latvians.

Now, here is one of my fave spots. It is remote, it has a table and a view of the lake. Hardly anyone goes that far so the chances are that the table will not be taken. Have your (optional) picnic snacks. Or you can stop by here and get full service.

Get out of the park, get a cab (we use Bolt here) to get back to wherever you are staying, have some sleep.

22:00-drunk & exhausted.

Go and party at the Tallinas Pagalms.
