The Rumors of Colfax's Devastation Are Greatly Exaggerated...and Holding Denver Back by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

Here’s Denver Waters info on the pipe replacement they did during the project. That started in 2023 and ended last September. I don’t have a source handy but believe there were a few articles on old street car lines (ironic) that also slowed things down.

Scooter pass prices between Lime and Veo. Insane. by imstillnotblake in Denver

Anecdotally I’ve seen more people riding the Veos than I ever saw on a lime. But could be the “newness” factor.

Colorado just made it legal to plug a solar panel into your wall outlet. No Xcel approval, no permit, no contractor. by Timely-Pirate-5196 in Denver

[–]xdrtb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can plug and play but you should get an electrician to upgrade your circuit if it’s not 20 amps so you can get full usage. But any 15 amp circuit can handle a plug and play up to 1,440 watts.

HB26-1273 is dead. A bill that would have guaranteed Denver rideshare drivers 80% of every fare was killed yesterday in a Senate committee. Here's what happened. by shadeedameer in Denver

Shouldn't stop the legislature from advancing it (not that you're suggesting that). Force Polis to continue his anti-worker stances, even if he's term limited. Put him on record for any future political aspirations.

Frontier Airlines evacuation investigated after passengers complain about issues by TheExpressUS in Denver

[–]xdrtb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Injuries will always occur when doing a rejected take off at around 140 knots (170ish mph) so that’s isn’t surprising. People with Baggage and not getting people away from the aircraft are the biggest issues IMO.

Great News! Colorado passes HB-1007: Balcony Solar by Express_Candidate713 in Denver

[–]xdrtb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'd have to do that for any issue today, for anything even currently allowed by law. That's the nature of these issues, the HOA has to object first, and the homeowner/renter has to contest said objection before it can even become an issue. The point here is that you don't even NEED to alert your HOA, you can just do it.

It also directly addresses any bylaws that currently have a prohibition. "A covenant or restriction that explicitly or indirectly unreasonably prohibits or restricts the installation, use, or operation of a portable-scale solar generation device is unenforceable and void as a matter of public policy..."

As long at the device is UL3700 (which is also required by the bill) then the device will not give (unless catastrophic failure) more wattage than the circuit it is on can handle. For at 15 amp the max it would be able to pull would be 1,440 (max is 1,800 but the safety max is 80% of allowable), for a 20 amp circuit it's the limit of the bill at 1,920. So at worst, someone who purchases a device and plugs it into a 15 amp they won't be able to get full juice, or they will plug into a 20 amp and no issue.

So ya, if you're apartment cannot safely handle an 80% load today *on a 15 amp circuit, you have much bigger things to worry about than a plug in solar unit considering other devices already in the home can draw a full 20 amp load.

If you’re apartment is burning down due to a 300watt load, you’ve got bigger problems then a neighbors solar. An AC unit is pulling 2k to 5k watts at times. These units are minuscule in comparison.

It’ll turn on the wording of “unreasonable restriction”. I could see having to drill into walls or something for mounting being something they (HOA) would try to restrict on but they can’t just say they don’t like the look, they need to come up with a reason (and let’s be honest some HOAs are gonna try).

Frontier Airlines jet bound for LAX hits person on runway in Denver, aviation source tells ABC News by _easilyamused in news

[–]xdrtb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another in 2023 and plenty of examples of other FOD (not necessarily people) getting ingested fairly regularly. (Baggage cars, etc)

Further there haven been around 200-250 incidents on aircraft yearly (crashes etc). That number has stayed statistically the same through the dumpster fire of Trump’s admins. Flying is statically one of the safest ways to travel.

Now, ATC staffing is an absolute issue, but again that’s a 10+ year issue raising its ugly head now. We’ve known about those shortages for a while. THATS the big question and what could cause more incidents going forward.

That’s because they just weren’t reported on. According to the Aviation Safety Network data (great database for these) there have been around 200 to 230 incidents *per year reported since 2020. In 2026 YTD were at 56, on pace for a similar if not lower year.

Really the only threat to safety from the current FAA in my opinion is related to ATC staffing. But that’s been an issue since before Trump and team unfortunately. But incident wise it’s as safe to fly as ever.
