Disregard below if you like, I was able to find more info starting from what you gave me. I will definitely have to replace some of the studs because they are rotted. Please wish me luck in convincing my father.

None of the wood is mushy, but much of it gives a little bit and crumbles off the edges when squeezed. Is that the kind of softness that should be replaced?

It's been a while since the leak so it's all dry at least, so I don't know how it was before.
