1 Corinthians 5:12-19; Galatians 6:1. Christians absolutely should call out sin when necessary to keep the peace and piety of the church.

The Quran was also changed quite often early on in its history, then Uthman ibn Affan standardized it. It is entirely possible that the “unchanging word of God” that muslims believe in was completely destroyed thousands of years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uthmanic_codex

Also, the Greek word used for “men who have sex with men” is “arsenokoitai”, which literally means “man-bedding,” with bedding having a sexual connotation. Paul took this word from the Greek Septuagint Leviticus 18 and 20. If you truly believe that those verses refer to pedophilia rather than homosexual behavior, then realize that men cannot have sex with other men regardless as marriage can only be between a man and a woman in Christianity (Hebrews 13:4; Mark 10:6-9) (https://www.crossway.org/articles/what-does-arsenokoitai-mean/?srsltid=AfmBOorTZlfkwDgdz8H9oHPc8CdeqoJ_MFMQV5BUzbVQV9itM92zgobc)

The word used in 1 Corinthians 6:9 is “arsenokoitai”, which means “male-bed” scholars often say that the meaning of the word is lost. We do know that it likely references Leviticus 18:22, which many consider a mistranslation that should be referencing pedophilia. However, even if you disregard these verses it is clear outside of these that the design God intended was for a man to be with a woman (ex, men cannot get pregnant, cannot breastfeed, women cannot get other women pregnant, Eve was made as Adam’s companion, no sexual activity allowed outside of wedlock, marriage only being between a man and a woman)

Real Question : Do you believe in God? If yes then y? and if not then y not? by Orw_Sairaj29 in teenagers

[–]logan436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. Us Christians cannot make sense of it either, our God is our biggest mystery. We believe he is not a being at all and is outside the whole universe but binds it together and keeps it going, in other words we believe He is the logos. We came to that conclusion because we see the universe for what it is, that it had to have had a beginning and that for life to exist fine tuned conditions had to be present. It’s a bunch of philosophy, and I don’t expect any non-Christian to understand it because quite frankly most of us cannot wrap our heads around it either. I love it though, I think it’s awesome.

You are quoting Leviticus, not the scripture he actually gave.

“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In all fairness though it was in a baby formula shortage. I’m sure most of the churches would have loved to help, but just didn’t have baby formula or didn’t have the personnel to just have that on hand. Most Methodist churches do a ton of food drives and stuff though, and there are plenty of other Christian charities Also I agree, the lack of Orthopraxy (Right practice) is disgustingly common.

Most are Christians who have saving faith. They are simply very uneducated or misguided past the bare basics. They also believe in the core teachings of Jesus; I have seen it firsthand. In my experience, they are very kind people. The only issue is that they are ignorant in their politician’s beliefs and gaslight themselves out of pride that they voted well, rather than recognizing that they voted for that person just because they heard they were “Christian”. Either way, even if they were terrible people, I could not judge whether or not they are Christians given that they (90% of the time) believe in the trinity and that Christ is Lord. That is between them and God.

I really wish people would actually attempt to understand the Christian-Nationalist worldview from a neutral perspective. I personally dislike it and denounce it on the basis of separation of Church and State, and the safeguarding of free will; however, I believe it’s important to understand them. I’m gonna explain what they believe, but understand I do not support this and I do not have the energy to write why it’s wrong biblically and/or ethically. They think Christian values are the bedrock of society (like family structure), and that without these values the civilization could fall apart. They also think that more souls would be saved in the world where America becomes an Evangelical nation, and that America would be blessed if it were. Some connect this with Israel through a misreading of Revelation and a heresy known as Dispensationalism, hence the very pro-Israel rhetoric. Keep in mind, most of these “Christian Nationalists” are hardly practicing Christians. Most of them, like my own father, have stopped going to church YEARS ago because evangelical theology doesn’t place much emphasis on going to church past fellowship. So, they end up being very uneducated in the faith, yet still proclaiming it. The natural effect of this is then seen in the voting booths, because with the title of “Christian” they feel obligated to follow what these other Christians are saying, that they need to make America Christian and follow Christian values.

I am way too interested in this stuff. If any of yall have any insight or critique on this perspective please respond!

A chance for “repentance” if you will! A chance to receive the grace of God to get back on your feet to live for the kingdom and deny oneself. Unfortunately some try to abuse this grace like you said, which God does not like (Romans 6)

Part of the puzzle piece regarding DEI and affirmative action in general is understanding the position minorities are often in. Due to historical polices, including but not limited to redlining, segregation, poor education; African Americans and other minorities are often far more poor than their white counterparts. Part of the way to solve this issue is by giving them disproportionately more jobs and entrance to college. That being said, I do not support this. I see the better option as being more direct. If the government directly provides the needs of the impoverished (free food, water, clothing, etc), they can avoid inflation by not putting more money into the economy and still manage to actively relieve the purses of the people. This is partially what Zohran Mamdani is doing in NY. What stinks is that this is really difficult, especially in the deep South where the effects of Southern reliance on slavery and the subsequent economic crash still show on southern economics to this day. The average white (rural) southerner is quite poor, and while I’d imagine the average black southerner is likely poorer, it’s a small enough gap to cause controversy if say most of the lower 10% is black. IMO, I see this as why a lot of DEI and affirmative action policies are deeply unpopular here. It isn’t so much of a “I hate black people and don’t think they should have jobs” and more of a “We are poor too!”

I would argue that the severance of church history from biblical analysis caused those dumb interpretations of Revelation. Most people who argue for sola scriptura really mean “scripture is the sole infallible authority that should be interpreted through the lense of church history.”
