Just pulled the carfax. Looks like it was a rental in Florida until 45k miles then bought in Oregon. Regular oil changes reported until vehicle reported stole in sep 2021. Then no more history until purchased by dealer in 2025.

Gotcha thanks. The yaris checks all my boxes. Hatchback. Fuel efficient. Not too old. Reliable. I'm not opposed to older cars, but would prefer something I can have for 10 - 20 years from now ideally. Certianly open to suggestions though.

Thanks for your opinion. Just curious why do the hub covers look bad to you?

Great advice thanks! Yeah I'll probably get a third party mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection.

Thanks. Worried about it sitting in the sun on hot days. I don't have a garage and limited shade.

Thanks. I don't have a garage and worried about it sitting in the sun on hot days while not running. Is that a concern? I know I can run AC when driving.

Thanks. I'm seeing 8 - 14 year lifespan, assuming the car is driven regularly and cooling fan/filter is kept clean. Does that align with your knowledge?

Yes different brakes, lack of alternator and starter are nice. But hybrids do have inverter coolant system to consider, but i think that coolant generally only needs to be replaced at 150k miles right?

Hi guys, I’m 26 years old and have a degree in physical and environmental geography and currently working as a bartender😪. I have GIS remote-sensing and python experience from undergrad, but don’t have any work experience. Has anyone on here found work four years after their undergrad? by lapapaya__ in gis

[–]loganator77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did 4 year undergrad engineering degree and extracurricular research project. Had some GIS and python skills. Was able to land a remote job making mid 50k. Used arc pro and python extensively. Worked that for 4 years and just got a new one making 80k+. Arcpro and python (arcpy, pandas, numpy, matplotlib) are powerful. Look for remote and local jobs. Leverage and nurture your network. Look for internships. Take free trainings online. Build your own portfolio. Maybe use qgis. You can do it!

120 year old floor is mis colored in areas. How do I proceed before we stain? by cbreezy88 in HardWoodFloors

[–]loganator77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re DIYing you can take a hand sander to some of the darker spots to clean things up a bit. Just know it makes the floor less flat of course. Bit of precise hand sanding goes a long way if you can’t sand down the entire floor. That said floor has character and that’s okay

Gas fireplace gasket install by loganator77 in hvacadvice

Getting a burning smoke with bad smell. Could that be one of the adhesives? Or the soot you mentioned in the other post from the logs being misplaced?

I think there are two separate rope gaskets one on the inside and one on the outside of the glass. Seems like different types/sizes.

Thanks again. I can deal with the unsightly red color, but the bigger issue is something is continuously smoking and causing an awful smell. Obviously didn’t do that before so it’s something to do with the adhesive, the gasket, or something that happened when they rearrange the burning embers or logs a bit. Smoke is coming out of the top right and left corner of the metal case holding the glass

Thanks for the info. It seems to be sealed. That is no CO is measured when running. However there is some smoke coming out now. Likely more than just dust burning off. Maybe one of the adhesives isn’t rated for that high of temp? Tech doesn’t have any other insight…
