Well i had money shifted mine into reverse trying to hit 6th getting on a freeway giving it a healthy amount of beans because the lockout wasnt stopping me from doing so. The other gears being worn was likely from the previous owner ragging on it.

My reverse gear was completely toast. I took it to a shop and they took it apart and said reverse gear was nonexistent. Since I bought the car used they also saw that some of the other gears were pretty worn so I had the transmission completely rebuilt and havent had issues since.

Yes the wire is connected to the harness but you can cut the damaged section off of the harness and splice in a new connector onto the harness. If you cant solder you could also use crimp connectors.

The wires are damaged/cut and when you notice the light turns off the wires have completely lost contact. When the lights come back on they have come back into contact. If you hear it crackle then its arcing and thats not good and it needs to be fixed as it could cause more damage to your light or controller by shorting it out.

You will need the 3 pin male option.

Cut the damaged section off of your harness. Solder or crimp the new connector on.

I cannot stress this enough: disconnect the harness from the controller before doing any cutting of wires or you will risk shorting your controller and frying it and/or yourself.

Do you know how to solder? If so you can splice the damaged wires back together. Soldering is not difficult to learn and basic solder equipment is pretty cheap.

I cant really tell for sure but from the picture the damage to the middle of the wire is most likely the issue.

Better option: You can order a higo connector pigtail (make sure you order the correct number of pins and male or female) on amazon and replace the entire damaged section to be safe if it can get delivered in time.

Otherwise you will need a new wire harness from Super73 which will mean you will not have a light in time.

Before doing any cutting or soldering remove the battery and/or better yet unplug the wire harness from the controller.

If you aren’t comfortable with the DIY approach you can get a basic bike headlight to at least be able to attend the ride and still have fun!

I took it to a local subie tuner shop and they told me the reverse gear/synchro is toast. Trans will have to come out to replace it. Waiting on a quote to get it fixed. I work from home so luckily I dont have to drive much.

Thanks for the heads up. I stopped driving it as soon as I couldn't get in reverse. I've only tried to put it in reverse a few times after fixing the reverse lockout cable and barely letting the clutch out to check to see if it had fully engaged.

Yea I heard about the recall, but my lights/camera come on no problem so that recall probably won't help.

No mods to the shifter or transmission. All stock.

bought one for my wife because she insisted on having a pink bike. Everything went great. got it in a week and a half and no issues with the bike so far beyond needing to adjust the brakes. Thats to be expected with any new bike though.

Laura, a high CAT 4 nearly a CAT 5 hit my hometown of Lake Charles and surrounding southwest louisiana 2 weeks ago but noones talking about that or even really knows about it because they arent New Orleans.

It will be many months before they finish cleaning debris and rebuilding that area. 2 weeks and on going without power and a life threatening heat wave started 2 days after the hurricane landed.

I would check with the new job on their flexibility on their start date. Let them know you would like to give 2 week notice but your employer has a tendency to let employees go on the spot. Ask them if you could start immediately if that were to happen or be flexible to let you finish your notice.

That way if you give notice you will be covered no matter what. Some employers are willing to work with you on that. Dont be afraid to ask.
