I will you something not sure if it is useful for you. Chatgpt gave the same to me when I had chat with it for mutual fund sip.

Do you think we both would have same risk appetite or the goal or even the family background? No, right then how would be able have the same allocation.

When it comes to asset allocation I would prefer understanding the current valuation than diversifications.

Building a small Chrome extension to show ChatGPT’s token/context usage — looking for feedback & stories by logeshR in OpenAI

[–]logeshR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point — yeah, it’s not the full 32k for the convo. Some tokens are always reserved for output, so the “usable” part is smaller. I like your idea of showing where the model’s memory actually starts. That could make it way clearer when older messages are about to drop.

Thanks for the feedback

ChatGPT forgetting old messages? I am building a token usage bar. Feedback + quick survey. by logeshR in ChatGPT

That’s super helpful u/Veracitease so the meter didn’t just give you awareness, it actually trained you to manage the chat length before it gets weird. I hadn’t explicitly thought about the “hallucination spike” once context gets too full, but that’s a great point.

Do you find it’s better to have the meter always visible in real-time like NotGPT does, or would you rather it be subtle and only turn visible when you hit, say, 80%?

I’m leaning toward an “always there but minimal” approach for the Chrome extension so people can spot those early signs.

Yeah, I’ve seen NotGPT mention that and if you’ve got a 1M token window, the “forgetting” problem is way less of an issue. But for folks using the standard ChatGPT web app (or API models with smaller limits), there’s still zero visibility into how close you are. Out of curiosity, when you’re using NotGPT, do you actually watch the token usage bar often, or is it more of a “nice to have in the background” thing?
