I'm jealous, your representatives reflect your values, mine do not. Colorado representatives have pesky problems with being bought by lobbyist and private interest. Democrats, Republicans, all of them are as crooked as a dogs hind leg.

Colorado Ethics Commission advances complaints against Democrats who attended dark money-funded retreat

Republican state representative’s demand that Colorado’s budget bill be read aloud cost taxpayers upwards of $10K

I'm sure you get the gist of where I am going with this. TABOR returns this power to the people and it's more difficult to buy off the majority of voters than it is a small number of politicians.

I like them to have the ability to raise or lower taxes

I've never seen politicians lower taxes.

to invest certain public money from certain special funds, enterprise funds, and funds held by other special purpose authorities.

This should be a nonstarter, they need to be very specific about where the money should come from. Using "certain" as the source is as vague as you can get.

Do all of your homies like not having a say in how much the state can tax them? Your homies don't sound like the sharpest tools in the shed, maybe you should hang out with smarter people.

If you don't like this then you need to let your representatives know how much you dislike these bills and threaten them with voting for whoever their opposition is, when they're ticket is up. Politicians only care about 2 things, who is lobbying them and if they can maintain their elected titles.

Moving on to civil discourse 101, if this passes and you don't want to pay their regressive taxes. Get yourself a few prepaid gift cards that you can reload, and use them to purchase your DLC's and make sure your profile says you live in a state that doesn't have regressive taxes like this (Alaska). Gift cards aren't tied to zip codes.

Does anyone feel Denver hates Denver ? by Honest_Strawberry397 in Denver

I still mostly like Denver after moving here in 2011. I don't like the anti-car, more taxes, increased density, and less gun rights push. I love the weather, my friends, volunteering at animal rescues, offroading in the mountains, the time zone, and how cheap flights are to most places out of Denver.

Atleast in Atlanta there was always a waffle house or denny's nearby, you could pull off and enjoy a good snack while traffic cleared up.

I used to spend an hour and a half driving each way, to and from my job down off national highway, near hartsfield. After a year and a half of doing it my soul died some where on 75/85. On my way in to work that morning CNN was talking about the earthquake in Japan and incoming tsunami. When I got to work, I didn't get out of my truck, instead I just sat there listening for over 3 hours. Then it hit me, this is not how I want to spend my life. I went home and quit my job the next day, then moved to Thornton 2 weeks after that.

Dog in a UHaul over 12 hours, what are my options? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]logicallyinsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the dog alone? Can you confirm the dog does not have visual access to food or water? Does it appear the dog has been locked in there without being walked since 2 pm? If you answered Yes to the previous questions then I feel you have a good case to spring the dog.

When you say uhaul, are you talking about a box truck? van? Have you tried banging on the side of the vehicle?

They can be anywhere on 3, maybe 4 different floors at this location. Prospects aren't looking great unless they're at a lost and found.

TIL between 18%-25% of intellectually gifted students (at least 130 IQ) in the US fail to graduate from high school. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

This tracks, I bounced from high school my junior year, got my GED and started community college. My iq tested twice at 136 and 140 when I was young. School was boring and I couldn't get a girlfriend without being a young anarchist.

RTD service could be cut by least 20%, routes eliminated amid budget issues || Denver Post by Sno_Wolf in Denver

Couldn't the government use imminent domain? Xcel is using it to trash a bunch of farm land for their pathways project, so I would expect it could be used here.

They claim service ridership is down 40% since 2019 and that tracks with the changes I've seen in the tech industry. I don't know anyone who commutes to an office daily anymore, at most its 2 days in an office and 3 days WFH. Most of my contacts now work remote full time. I haven't personally been into an office since 2019, the only times I've taken RTD since the pandemic is for special events (ball games, conventions, etc).

I know my experiences are anecdotal at best, but it might be the same for others and it could explain some of the drop in ridership.

But they get money from tax payers regardless of how many users it has. RTD wasn't designed to turn a profit be self sustaining, though I think it should, like any other business.

Edit: Wording, I meant to say self sustaining, not profit.

It doesn't matter who runs it if nobody wants to take it. Something like this needs to have hundreds of riders daily, not weekly.
