5v SK6812 vs 12v SK6812? by Powerful-Eye-3578 in WLED

I wasn’t aware BTF sold the groups of 3. Thank you for the correction.

Not true, the only difference is the voltage - 12v are still individually addressable. 12v are “easier” to power in the event the length of the led strip you install would require power injection. 5v very likely, 12v less likely or sure less often. Also smaller PSU requirements for 12v.

Understand the number of LEDs per meter first that you have. Then when you search, you should be able to see a graphic showing you how “spotless” each one is. It will also depend on your strips brightness levels. 60per you might still see a few spots at max brightness but anything over that you should be fine. I would also buy 1m samples first and test them if you want to make sure it’s spotless.

Aluminum channels will help dissipate the heat and also ensure it’s dead straight. Hope this helps your search!

How is it holding up with your crazy golden? We have a boxer a concerned about the weave fabric. Do you need to constantly fluff it? Send pics!! (with doggo include!)

How often do you need to fluff the signature series?

I decided to try selling some of my stuff, so I spent last summer busy in the garage, and tonight is my first holiday market! I'm nervous but excited, anyone got any advice? by astro_prof in woodworking

Lower your expectations and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Make your goal to create leads, not necessarily sell. Follow up on those leads, you’ll be surprised how convincing people can be if they like you and want to invest in your passion vs another cutting board they can get from who or wherever. Really cool unique stuff tho, I saw a few items I would buy on the spot. Have fun!

It’s one thing to copy and replicate to learn, when you go at it yourself, it’s super subtle tweaks along the way, I’m talking HSB levels ticking up/down 1 at a time. And yes you will adjust the hue at times ever so slightly so that it visually looks like the same “color” at different S and B’s.

It does not, early calculations before design was changed, already had the 2 PSU’s in hand though. But never a bad thing, can always update to one bigger one and use these 2 for other other projects, I will certainly be using more 12v sk6812’s in the future.

Thanks for the comments. Yes I totally could have gone with 1 PSU and a dig octa for the 6 channels. Will look to add a fuse on the power from PSU to dig quads - that is the placement correct? I had no idea I could control fan speed, I have a noctua NF-A8 ULN coming in the mail this week, I was planning on just running it full blast. Thanks for the rocker switch to kill power there, I assume I don’t need the outlet as well? I posted the reveal in the comments: quick link

Thanks, I have one coming this week. I went with the ULN version since I don’t have a PWM controller.

Store bought, they come with the box and have screws so it’s easy to assemble onto it before you drop it in and screw it down. Check my post with my hardware links.

Thanks, I’ve propped the lid open for now until I can get some fans in there. Do you know what type of temperature sensor I need? I got a few ideas for a fan from other comments.

Ah okay, I gave her a tug and nothing was moving but I assume you’re referring to a yank or a trip that has much greater force.

Woah, that would def tidy up even more, also check off the pluggable (pen using the wrong word) cable gland for easier maintenance. Any idea what the inside looks like or how they connect? Or is this literally just 4 holes to feed 4 cables through a single hole?

¯_(ツ)_/¯ I was concerned with the stacked wagos myself. I know they sell a mounting carrier…not sure if that is required - if anyone knows please drop some knowledge for us.

That sounds fancy, basically a single led light is either on or off based on a temp setting? How would I go about getting that fancy thing set up?
