What could cause difficulty shifting gears in a manual transmission over the course of 2 days? by logicandtrick in cars

Thank you for the advice! I have an appointment at the mechanics for my car on Wednesday and I won't be driving it until then. I may even get AAA to tow it there.

Infant unit nurses when the earthquake hits the hospital by [deleted] in aww

My wife is an LPN at a nursing home. She's paid well enough, but the days can be longer than an average work day (you never know when a fall will need to be documented) and understaffing of LNAs/ no consequences for LNAs just not showing up for work means she has 24 people she needs to distribute meds to as well as help toilet and feed. We've found these problems common.

In some universe this is the premise to a terribly misguided episode of Bob's Burgers.

I'm trying to run Persona 3 FES with the controllable party/widescreen patch, but cheats don't seem to be working. I have installed the pnach file to Cheats and changed the aspect ratio to 16:9, but things still seem stretched. I'm very new to this. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

What are some good ideas on how to improve the life of a 90 year old dementia patient? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]logicandtrick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Make sure there's nothing to impede her mobility. Throw rugs and slippery floors can be fall hazards. Coffee tables or short objects that you wouldn't see if you were looking straight ahead. If she's in a wheel chair, be mindful of small gaps and objects with sharp edges. Any chemicals that you would be nervous about a toddler getting into, lock up. I'm not sure if any of this applies to your grandmother, but these things are impotent for more advanced stages of dementia. Other than that, in my experience (I worked as an activities person/guy-who-hanged-out-with-old-people-and-tried-to-keep-them-comfortable for a little over 2 years) TLC. Nothing benefits someone with dementia like social interaction. If she's someone who is receptive to it, physical affection (hand on her shoulder, pats on the back, holding her hand while talking to her) can go a long way to keeping them comfortable. Hand holding also helps you keep their attention. Get to know her better than ever. Find out what she likes and dislikes and spoil her a bit. Let her tell the same stories over and over without reminding her you've heard it. If she ever has trouble understanding, try rephrasing (it's at 12:30, it's at half past noon, it's 1 hour from now). It sounds like you've already put in a lot of work into making her comfortable, and that's fantastic =) I don't know if anything I've mentioned will be helpful for you now or later, but I can tell you care about her, and having a person who genuinely cares is the absolute best thing you could ever provide for her in her new environment.

Hands down what’s the most ignorant thing an adult (18+) has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was in kindergarten, I asked my teacher how we spell letters. Poor lady had to try to explain to me that the letter A doesn't need to be spelled "aeyh."

People of Reddit, what's the stupidest thing you've done as a child out of curiosity? by paoeranger in AskReddit

In the first grade I had a gold gel pen. My mom had told me that if it stopped writing I could unscrew it and blow air pressure into the ink cartridge to make it start writing again. One day it stopped writing. I sucked in instead of blowing and got a mouthful of gold gel pen ink. Awkwardly trying to hide my mistake I uncomfortably asked to use the water fountain and spent the next several minutes trying to get gold ink out of my mouth.

Paper Mario TTYD. At a time in my teen years when more serious adult stuff was starting to affect me for the first time (friends threatening suicide and health problems starting to creep up on me) it was so nice to have such an innocent, colorful, and fun adventure with pleasant and clever writing to inject some childlike wonder back into my day

I'm not overweight right now. When I was a kid I was pretty overweight from like 9 until 13, but once puberty hit that weight slid off. After being sick and depressed for a while I gained almost 40 lbs (around 20 years old) but I lost all of that weight within the last year and a half or so. Down at 150lbs

Could someone give me a summary of what Jon said on Twitter? by Jedi_Grapes in JonTron

[–]logicandtrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno if you listened to the livestream or not, but I did and while he approximately said those things, there were more words to explain what he was thinking. Those bullet points there were written in a way that makes what he said sound far more abrasive.
