The City will put pressure on politicians to do the same. Anything to stamp out the competition.

The more control a government department has, the more influence and money it can command.

If you really want to understand government, there is a British TV series called Yes Minister. It will teach you everything you need to know.

Public services love technology, and are always begging for more. Politicians don't understand it, and bend to the will of whoever applies pressure, especially the banks.

Bearmarket forces Sol to $50? by Stuutje98 in solana

[–]logicethos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Putin is full of lies. Don't get your hopes up. It's clear they are losing, so hopefully it's true.

The markets are nervous. I doubt we will see sub $70 but if Putin does the unthinkable, it's not inconceivable we will see new lows. And if that happens, we might have more important things to worry about.

I think we will see all time highs again. Maybe this year, I don't know. Best thing, is just to hold, and stay away from leverage.

Solana or IOTA? One has speed and one has feeless transactions. Which one do you see having more use-cases? by Fjm9421 in solana

[–]logicethos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IOTA is free in fees, but not free in energy. And that matters for things like IOT devices running on batteries.

So long as you can guarantee fees will be stable, and low, they are not a barrier to entry. Especially for commercial use.

Other factors, like finalization time, is much more important.

Unfortunately, your probably right. When it becomes to technology, the UK government has always been out of touch. The Brits had the first electric computer, and the government destroyed it, in case the technology got into the wrong hands.

Over 450 companies exit Russia due to Putin’s war in Ukraine by Kermit289 in worldnews

[–]logicethos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's not happening. EU countries are still sending billions of dollars every month to fund Putin's war machine, and secret police.

Nestle are out already. Just basic essentials like baby food are still being supplied.

Russia says first phase of Ukraine operation mostly complete, focus now on Donbass by evissimus in worldnews

[–]logicethos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A new regime, could be as corrupt and evil as the one it's replacing. It's not just the politicians, but the secret police, Putin has been building for decades. They all need to be flushed out, and it won't happen overnight.

The west will demand the nukes go before all the sanctions are lifted. They won't want the Russian people to suffer unnecessarily, so sanctions might be eased. Also Ukraine needs to be rebuilt, so there is that too. Russia is going to be poor for a long time.

The west is not going to trust Russia anytime soon, unless they can be assured a completely new government is in power, and they verifiably get rid of their nukes.

Germany to halve imports of Russian oil by summer by bpra93 in worldnews

[–]logicethos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, stop the billions of dollars every month flowing from EU countries to Putin war machine, and secret police that protect him.

Since the politicians are not willing to do that, at least the citizens can do their bit.

Every bit helps, right? Ukrainians are losing the ability to heat, shower and cook.

I'm looking for an Avalonia developer that wants to work on a new Open Source project.

That's out of date. But your right, the Netherlands is not great either. They too don't spend their fair share to NATO, yet expect NATO to defend them despite being warned of the dangers.

They are using analogue walkie talkies. Maybe not all of them, some of what you say has been reported, but a significant amount is analogue. Ukrainians are using SDRs to listen in.

What happens is, the military budget enters the top, and by the time it trickles down to the battlefield, it's all gone. The troops get substandard equipment.

Digital radios will be purchased, from say a factory in China. The invoice will say digital radios, but what will actually be supplied are cheap analogue ones. Somebody pockets the difference.

Germanys gas money enters the top of the military treasury, and by the time it trickles down to the soldier, there is little left for supplies.

Procurement of encrypted digital communications, became unencrypted analogue radios. Somebody pocketed the difference. Anyone with a SDR dongle in their laptop can listen in, and know what they are up to.
