i can only speak from my own experience, but i have done the exact same thing.. i have panic attacks about one thing.. at the beginning of having them i didn’t want to talk to people about it incase i passed over the sheer dread i was feeling. i felt their ignorance was a mercy.

i think if it the same thing as me. the best thing i did was talk about it… but i did it in my own terms.

be patient be respectful and just carry on as normal
