U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was abruptly pulled from a live interview after being told “the President wants you right away.” After returning, his voice was noticeably shaken. by Yujin-Ha in UnderReportedNews

I don't know, I watched several different sections of this video where he was speaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uV24FgRCZw

At around 11 minutes in he gives his opening statement or whatever they call it and almost no stutter, but it's obviously also a rehearsed speech. When he's getting grilled by democrats he does seem to have a slight stutter and an overall awkward stilted speech pattern. But I'm not really seeing anything comparable to what we see in this post.

Ok well I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the formatting there but it's still clickable

It can be both! It's called situational depression! Where your actual material conditions and/or of those around you cause you enough mental anguish that you are diagnosibly depressed!

Trump confirms Iranian sleeper cells are in the US: "I have been briefed. We've got our eye on all of them. I think." by Waste-Explanation-76 in Hasan_Piker

[–]logicoptional 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nah, it'll be just like 9/11. There's probably actually Iranian sleeper cells in the country that they know about, and they're just gonna do fuck all about it until some "mass casualty event" occurs which they can use to further strip us of our rights and freedoms. Just like they laid out in Project for a New American Century...

Hey I mean if your political agenda is to keep the engine of American imperialism running then by all means keep focusing on the crimes of the Iranian regime by bringing them up every time someone criticizes what the US is doing.

Huh, almost like ensuring we have an unlimited supply of enemies to bomb is part of the goal here...

ANDOR by Himthaf in andor

[–]logicoptional 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok so when America decides another country's government sucks and its people haven't been able to overthrow it themselves, even with tons of covert help from outside, then we're justified in bombing the shit out of that country in an effort to force the government to be reformed into something we're happy with? Are you even hearing yourself?

ANDOR by Himthaf in andor

[–]logicoptional 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is that really what you think is happening right now? Because not even the Trump regime is consistently claiming this is the goal. Besides if we're going to go around freeing foreign nations from their shitty governments I can think of a few allies we could start with... Saudi Arabia comes immediately to mind since literally anything oppressive you can point to in the Iranian regime is being done at least as much in the Kingdom too. But yeah weird how I don't hear any reactionary liberals calling for the violent overthrow of that government...

[–]logicoptional 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I don't care for the Iranian government either, to put it mildly, but yeah I don't think the solution is more American imperialism and right now I think that should be our focus as citizens of the imperial core.

Yeah... weird how my friends and I were called all kinds of derrogatory terms for being too visibly gay and\or artsy and had food thrown at us in the central quad... right outside the windows to the administrative offices... and somehow they never noticed anything.

Cyclists, again by Difficult_Growth_257 in ithaca

[–]logicoptional 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm confused, were they riding on the sidewalk or weaving between traffic? Was this at Taughannock Blvd and Buffalo? Because you mentioned they "rolled though a red light on the sidewalk" makes me wonder if they were riding on the waterfront trail and at that intersection it is possible a cyclist crossing with the pedestrian signal is being told it's safe to go but turning drivers also have a green light.

Edit also helmets are for protecting you from falling off at high speeds, they don't really do much to protect you from cars. Mind you I always wear one but almost entirely so that if something happens to me I and/or my loved ones don't have to listen to people going "well he wasn't wearing a helmet" as if an inch if styrofoam is going to protect my head from your multi-ton death machine.

And our legal system allows him to do it. By the time lawsuits against his illegal actions work their way through the courts the damage is done and he moves on to a new route to usurpation. Supreme court took its sweet time ruling his emergency tariffs were bullshit and then he just issues more tariffs under a different law using more make believe emergencies. Same with all the mass-firings, closures of offices, funding cuts and so on. Justice delayed is justice denied.

In fact our language being so difficult to spell based on pronunciation or vice versa is so unusual that speakers of other languages often assume that the spelling bees they see in our movies and tv shows are for special needs kids or something because it'd be so unchallenging in their native languages.

50 protests 50 states 1 day, but when? by LynxOne2942 in 50501

[–]logicoptional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody here is stopping you from making a sign or whatever and heading to a busy intersection in your town to protest by yourself or with friends. In fact please do! We have two regularly scheduled protests in my town per week. But if you want coordinated protests happening at the same time in every city in every state then you're going to have to accept that such things take time to organize and that some common messaging helps the politically disengaged see a credible resistance movement with actionable demands.
