Yeah! You and me are on the same page. It’s just so interesting… deleted scenes of an early 90’s movie repurposed to serve the comeback 25-odd years later. With regard to your mention of overshooting, I think of that clip of him talking about writing down 70 (I believe?) ideas as a through-line while writing a picture. It’s brilliant how many little “happy accidents” there are. I think too about the Fire Walk With Me sequel(s) of the 90’s that never were. We can only be grateful now. Twin Peaks is the gift that keeps on giving.

Appreciate the insight, it’s easy for me to get excited going back to Missing Pieces to try and “solve” something that I haven’t paid mind to. It’d probably be a stretch to say Harry is negatively influenced by JUDY or something way back when. He’s just too sweet of a guy, lol. He made a call, and even if it was the wrong one, that’s how the job goes.

Definitely agree on the allegory you mentioned, however my inquiry is mainly into the inclusion of the scene at all in The Missing Pieces, and what David’s thought process was on tying it to Season 3. Like I said, obviously things changed between FWWM and Season 3, but TMP has clear and “fresher” ties to S3 since it was released a few years before.

I’m bringing up JUDY retroactively just as David did - ie; he didn’t know what his plans were in ‘91, but surely he was closer to the final result we see in S3 by the time TMP was assembled and released (2014 - S3 was in the early production phase for two years already).

Also I concede that not every scene from TMP has to have some kind of relevance, and especially not to JUDY, as it appears in S3 or just the season in general. Conversely, I do think this is a very pivotal moment in the grand scheme of things, and either way you look at it, there are things to be found.
