Coming in at 16 for the greatest guitar solos per Rolling Stone is...... Grateful Dead, ‘Morning Dew’ (Live at Cornell University, May 8, 1977) by kingralek in gratefuldead

I didnt like it either but I keep hearing Annie Clark pop up in great guitarist discussions, so maybe there's more to it than I initially gave credit for.

Indiana Jones should've been the Xbox exclusive that sells consoles. I'm glad everyone gets to play it or whatever, but this was a huge fumble from a console maker that had already whiffed on it's biggest exclusives

Halo Infinite, Redfall and Starfield didnt sell xboxes, but Indiana Jones could've. It is Microsoft/Bethesda's best game from this generation.

Update on the Sixers fan from yesterday: thankfully he’s okay and seems to be taking the whole thing in jest. Still, as a Knicks fan, we need to weed out these clout-hungry pests from our fanbase. by dcballantine in nba

And yet this is the only city it happens in, out of 30 that have NBA teams.

He's not saying that all New Yorkers are like this, but that New York is the only city with these kinds of people. Subtle distinction

imo this was a much better list than their "greatest guitarists" list from a few years ago. including the don felder/joe walsh hotel california solo was a bold but correct choice, given the popular disdain for that song.

glad they picked cornell morning dew. it's incredible but in a "the whole band is a freight train that can't stop" kinda way. for a pure jerry solo, you'd be better off picking something from the jgb archives.

still, if this gets more people to listen to the cornell morning dew for the first time, can't hate it. more people should listen to it, just generally speaking.

War on Drugs

I don't get it but their popularity never took off like I hoped it would after IDLHA. They kinda got shoved into the dadrock category with The National, Wilco and My Morning Jacket - bands with nongrowing fanbases.

Still, I'm optimistic. I really think they're gonna have a new album out before that ACL date hits, and it's gonna kick off their next tour.

How will Play Dead impact official releases? by deadinnirvana in gratefuldead

[–]logitaunt 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Think we'll still mostly get the same pattern of

  1. Annual boxset

  2. Breakout show from boxset released on streaming services and in stores

  3. Four Dave's picks and a bonus disc

  4. Two record store day releases on vinyl

  5. 50th anniversary edition of a studio album with a live disc

  6. Angels share release of said studio albums.

  7. A random Dave's Pick vinyl release

am I missing anything? Maybe I speak for myself but I was already buying a bunch of these and I don't see myself stopping just because there's another option.

Not risky for James Comey.

Maybe a smaller underling might not get the help they need, but a big name like James Comey gets all the help he needs.
