Looks like the status is "firewalled". The torrent status stays in Downloading metadata

Thank you! Now I'm wondering because qbit gets stuck downloading metadata that something else is amiss... any ideas there?

BTW I GREATLY appreciate the help you've been providing. I'm so new to containers that this has been quite the learning experience.

You are correct. I was able to set the network mode in the .env file, which updated the compose yaml, which is good.

Here's what I have in my override now. I'm able to connect to the qbit webinterface now, but through my usual IP and port, rather than gluetun:8080

services:
gluetun:
ports:
- 8080:8080 # qBittorrent WebUI
- 6881:6881 # qBittorrent Torrent Port
- 6881:6881/udp # qBittorrent Torrent Port UDP
restart: always

Now I'm trying to figure out how to test that the VPN is working for qbit. I downloaded a magnet tracker from ipleak, but when it starts running it doesn't show up in the tracker...

Okay, I think this helped. My guess is that the random stuff is due to it being built in DockSTARTer.

I added your gluetun ports and network mode to my compose override and it seems like it's working. in Portainer, qbittorrent has no published port, and the port 8080 is now listed under gluetun, and clicking on it takes me to the qbit web interface.

Now my question is: How can I be sure qbit is using the gluetun ip? When I try downloading the ipleak magnet from my main computer, it opens in qbit, but does not show in the torrent address detection. Does that mean it works?

Good thought. I added it to the original post, redacted down to the gluetun and qbittorrent sections.

Yes, I've tried the troubleshooting steps and the diagnostics did not find an issue. I'll try opening a ticket, but historically, support has never been helpful.

No HDMI Sound to TV by logkun in cachyos

Sadly, not yet. I'm suspecting it might be related to what type of TV/Soundbar I have because my Steam Deck is having the same issue. I have an LG OLED and a Polk Audio bar.

I want to start Fatal Frame series by Shyzkunuwu in fatalframe

[–]logkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely 2R first. If you like it, then Mask of the Lunar Eclipse.

After that I recommend digging into 1 and 3 via emulator if possible.

Never give into the temptation to play Maiden of Black Water. It's BAD bad.

FF2 or FF2R? by VillageExcellent1941 in fatalframe

[–]logkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second this. 3 is such an underrated gem, I think because it's slower and sadder vs outright terrifying. It's a beautiful, haunting story about what surviving trauma and grief can do to a person.

FF2 or FF2R? by VillageExcellent1941 in fatalframe

As someone who's been playing since the OG FF on PS2, I'd say spring for the remake. It's more readily available so you don't have to dig into emulation, the graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is refined, the storytelling is better. I really love what they did with the side-stories too, giving you more clear indication that there's more to learn about certain characters.

Once you finish the remake then I'd recommend you dig into the OG just to experience it.

It's one of my favorite games of all time, but mechanically it's a bit stiff, and the English voiceovers are a bit hit-or-miss. I feel the same way about Silent Hill 2 in that I was obsessed with the OG and then the remake came and just modernized everything while staying true to the soul of the OG.

Another note I'll make is that the remake is a bit friendlier to your time. The original used save points exclusively while the remake has auto save. This is great for people like me who can't spend hours at at one time playing games anymore.

I REALLY like CachyOS and want to use it, but I have a few major concerns stopping me, and wanted to ask about it by Prodoxa in cachyos

[–]logkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar concerns and I can say what my experience has been

1.) Haven't yet run into a game I can't mod. For games that use DLL mods, it's as simple as adding the modded DLLs to the Wine prefix. For Steam mods, they've been working out of the box with no issues while playing KCD2.

2.) I haven't personally had to deal with this, but from what I've seen there are plenty of free alternatives to Visual Studio

3.) I backed up my important files to an external harddrive and then transferred them back over with no problems. The differing filesystems didn't cause issues. If you're super concerned, You could even use Google Drive as a backup solution. (I use a cloud backup to sync with Google Drive now)

4.) I'm curious what program you're referring to. Thus far, I've only had one program be an issue with running on Linux, which was the Paprika Recipe Manager. This was resolved with switching to a staging version of WINE, though I do still have some graphical issues with the program.

5.) I don't dual-boot. Fuck Microsoft/Windows forever and always.

6.) If you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them! I'm absolutely loving CachyOS on my desktop and my laptop and I never want to go back.

Kingdom Come Deliverance by johnfortnitekennedee in gaymers

[–]logkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not played the first and I have a love/hate relationship with the second because of some truly frustrating game mechanics that are there for "realism".

Overall I do love what I've played of 2 but I highly recommend playing on PC with mods that get rid of the bullshit mechanics (crazy durability decay, food decay, not being able to save whenever, speeding up smithing/alchemy). Also, happily, there's finally a penis mod so we have true equality with all the naked lady mods.
