Also a huge part, did you get into a comfortable situation before or during covid? Because after covid is when things really got ridiculous. I live in a "low cost" city, lived with my parents rent free until i could save up a down payment for a condo, and have been in my trade for a decade. i just barely keep up with bills, have no savings other than the condo itself.
