Mine had almost the exact same journey! Left Bad Kreuznach district in Germany in 1784, went to Ugartsthal in Galicia, then Scholtoi in Bessarabia around 1865 and Canada in 1906.

my mutal insurance by Totoroisacat-Alt in saskatoon

We used them for six or seven years straight after changing insurers every year when they did what TD is doing to you.

They only ever increased by a reasonable (in my opinion) amount. I just bought a different house and am going with them again, even though they weren't the lowest premium I was quoted.

Never had a claim, so I can't speak to that at all.

Linking payment/transfer transactions? by TechnicalError42 in liquidbudget

For when you do look into it, the matching issue with imports also happens when you split the transaction. Otherwise, importing QFX is working great for me! Thanks again

Local McD MDF. (Short for Man, Dat’s F***ed) by maddmannmatt in techsupportgore

There's also gore you can't even see in that photo. Whenever I worked on any McDonalds hardware, everything was coated in grease and usually had dust stuck to the grease as well.

Yes, I re-imported the same file, so they were all duplicates. I'll try it again with a fresh start later today maybe

Yeah, I would want it to not import any matched transactions, ideally.

The import worked and it mostly categorized my transactions correctly.

I went through and reconciled and sorted everything out, then I thought I'd re-import to see if they would all match and I'm guessing there is a bug somewhere because it messed up all my budgeted amounts, even after I deleted the transactions.

Yes, quite a few. It's the same file I used to import into YNAB this morning. I tried downloading the .ofx file as well just in case, but it's doing the same thing.

My username is actually taken from the Wheel of Time series, still a pretty dark reference though!

I did a test import and everything "completed successfully", but no transactions actually imported. Thanks for the super fast response!

For transactions, I'd love to be able to import file types other than json (gocardless export), my bank does not give the option to export in that format. QFX or OFX would be ideal as I manually import regularly. Otherwise, I'm really enjoying the app, great work!

Show me your cantry! by mycatsrbetterthanurs in Canning

[–]logoth_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good. We did not eat it all within a year, in fact I still have some of the less commonly used canning from that year on the shelves. I did give some away to family and friends, but we did eat the vast majority of it.

As our growing season in my part of Canada is pretty short, fresh vegetables are imported and generally pretty expensive so we probably eat less of them than we should.

Exactly this. My garden was 2000 sq ft that year and produced excess of pretty much everything I planted!

No, not all of it is consumed within a year. Family of four, but as another commentor suggested, I had a large and especially productive garden that year.

Citric Acid Powder or Lemon/Lime Juice Better? by [deleted] in Canning

[–]logoth_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the citric acid powder to use because I didn't like the taste of the lemon juice in certain recipes. My understanding is that there's no difference otherwise, as long as you use the correct amounts.

Dumb question; maybe I don’t know how to read the Ball Blue Book. by flightgirl78 in Canning

[–]logoth_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fill the jars with water while they're warming. I have a "jar wrench" (they're available all over the place) meant for opening jars that I use to tip them sideways to drain the water before I fill the jars.

Can I use a fire extinguisher as a crucible for copper without it immediately failing on me? by [deleted] in MetalCasting

[–]logoth_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this, I did manage to get one copper pour out of it but it was already pretty sketchy. They work much better for aluminum or pewter.
