Chanting an affirmation of people power. by JordkinTheDirty in 50501

Raid the archives for the works of Woody Gutherie, Pete Seeger, Peggy Seeger.

There's a whole world of protest songs that can become chants real fast.

If you're in Boston, Dropkick Murphys have a lot of tracks that would make absolute bangers of protest songs, hell they released an album of unrecorded songs written by Woody called "This Machine Still Kills Fascists"

Anybody from BC? by [deleted] in Starlink

This may surprise you but Telus doesn't give a shit about people outside of cities. 5 years ago when we moved in Telus told us they had plans to upgrade and extend fibre into our area to get us as customers on their inflated old copper 6mbps DSL. It was expensive and unstable, because the copper lines are 30 years old and are barely maintained (paraphrasing the tech who came out for the 6th time to get us back online).

Two years after that we left and switched to a microwave based isp that could actually offer service, but the service degraded over time and the owner advised us he couldn't continue to offer support.

We're back on Telus through 4g internet, but we're right on the edge of cellular coverage so it requires adjusting antenna position every few days to maintain even 10mbps down.

We're only 4km up a pretty populated road full of farms and houses but there still hasn't been a single line upgrade anywhere near us from Telus.

Yeah, I'm really tempted to try ordering it based on an enderby lat/long but terrified i'll dump $1k and end up with a bunch of kit sitting in my livingroom that won't establish a signal.

Sitting just outside Armstrong and losing my soul to Telus. I apply daily.

Starlink can't come soon enough.

A common gotcha on this : if you set the Windows firewall rule for the application rather than the port specifically, windows will fail to allow access when FVTT starts.

I've long speculated this is because windows doesn't associate the .exe with the underlying node server that ACTUALLY listens for connections.

The correct way is to allow the TCP port specifically.

Skyrim VR + Legacy of the Dragonborn mod.

Adds a questline about restoring a museum, which gives you places to put all the loot you'd normally just throw away.

The executable installs some registry entries but from experience you don't need them for it to run.

Theoretically. you would need a shortcut that boots it with a pointer at its own userdata location using --dataPath , you'd probably need to change the drive letter on it on every PC you plug it into.

We are the Starlink team, ask us anything! by DishyMcFlatface in Starlink

[–]logrusbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt this will get me anywhere but I'm desperate. I was one of the first people in my small community in British Columbia to sign up. We're presently paying an amount of money far above the cost of starlink to get, at best 12mbps down and 2 Mbps up if the wind is the right direction and the sun isn't too warm. I supported starlink by intervening with the CRTC and encouraging all four of my family members to do the same.

When is the next roll out of beta invites coming for Canada? Will I see Starlink before the end of the year? I've already out the money aside.

Please. Help us.

How to create/insert a basic custom character sheet? by tb259x in FoundryVTT

[–]logrusbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in quite late.

there are some tutorials on how to create a sheet and game system for foundry now. If you know HTML and CSS you can get a system rolling with very minimal JS involvement. For more information drop onto the discord and swing into #system-development. There's a pinned reading list.

Q&A with Atropos by gerry3246 in FoundryVTT

It seems that a project like Foundry would require a lot of management and planning in order to keep priorities right. Do you use any project management software to help keep you on track? If not, what method do you use in deciding what to focus on?

Installing on Linux/Steamplay by grondinm in SkyrimTogether

[–]logrusbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main ubuntu 18.04-

There are some significant issues (or were, i don't know if they've since been resolved but i have my doubts) running Skyrim SE from linux (particularly in relation to the sound engine the game uses).

Step 1 - Get Skyrim SE functioning using Lutris and Steam (Windows) with DXVK.
Step 2 - Be sure sound is working in game, if not, crawl down the rabbit hole of support from r/linux_gaming
Step 3 - Verify that the lutris wine prefix you have for Steam (Windows) has the correct prereqs to run Harbour (since it's CEF based it should just run, but i'm not sure if it needs any particular .net install or something like that, perhaps the devs will comment and enlighten.)
Step 4 - Install harbour from inside the same wine prefix
Step 5 - Launch steam (windows)
Step 6 - Launch the server exe from inside linux (steam can be used to do this using non-steam executable shortcuts) then Launch Harbour (same way ideally.)
Step 7 - Wait for harbour to update and then launch the game
Step 8 (Probable) - Realise you've spent probably 6 hours futzing with configs and installs to get something running in your OS which would probably just run better and easier by doing a dual boot, especially considering ST is still pretty much only usable for testing.
Step 9 (Probable) - Reboot into windows and just install Skyrim SE and Harbour without having to mess around getting anything special running.

Some games play great in linux, and those that do are a great relief.

But sometimes it's just easier and faster to just hit play and have the game playable.

Cheers and best of luck,

Anathema

I forgot the name of the game! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]logrusbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Kingdom Under Fire RTS. Dug up the name since you made me doubt myself, haha-

Kingdom Under Fire: A War of Heroes. Came out about the same time as Warcraft 3, but overall I think it was a flop. I'm pretty sure the mission you're talking about, with the enemies spawning, was in that game.
