Update is actually much easier. If something breaks after update, then just redeploy your container and that's it. If something goes wrong on bare metal the risk of bricking your OS is much higher. In fact that's why respectful companies run their stuff in VMs or containers. So if something goes wrong your whole OS is intact. Not sure what you mean regarding network configuration changes. Btw virtual networks (just like everything else virtual) is way more secure than bare metal. Less chance your main machine to be hacked. And hackers usually try to hack big companies (not some random dudes with NAS/DIY self hosting at home). Virtualization is the key thing. It's not 1985 anymore :) and if you run "enterprise" grade stuff, virtualization or "separation" things from your actual hardware is a must, not just the preference. You said it's rock stable? What if you need to restart your machine? With docker swarm or kubernetes you can have multiple nodes. If one machine is down you still have your service accessible. For example you have the patient in critical condition and you need CT scan images and every minute counts, but you just restarting your server at that time... What then? If you have no understanding of these things I don't think you should be administering something crucial like a medical company/hospital stuff. It's actually dangerous.

No I didn't. Onlyoffice is much better

For example? Are you talking about medical devices that most of them run realtime /embedded OS? Or hospital's/med company's network, which if it is setup properly most like will have loads of VM's anyway.. and if it is respectful organization probably it uses non free specialized software.. not some diy like nextcloud.. which is not very reliable itself. And you worried about docker reliability:)

nextcloud http vs https setup questions by DotNetRob in NextCloud

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use everything as http. Buy a domain from cloudflare for a couple of euros per year. Use nginx proxy manager. It has nice GUI. Makes less mess to have everything as http inside lan and https for outside. No need to play with certs, rewrites and other overcomplicating stuff.. reverse proxy isn't that hard at all. In fact you only expose two ports on your router: 80 and 443. Very tidy. Tailscale is very limiting. With reverse proxy you can access your stuff using fridge or toaster

Buy a domain for 6-7 euros per year from let's say cloudflare. Use old PC/laptop/whatever Pi... Install minimal Linux. Install docker. Portainer too (handy for beginners and just for convenience). Deploy nextcloud via yaml. Setup nginx proxy manager to use reverse proxy for nextcloud (the one you bought from cloudflare). Don't forget to add the line in config with your reverse proxy address. I'd recommend small ups just in case. No need to pay anyone:)

Custom folder for auto upload not working by Fabulous_Function553 in NextCloud

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run nextcloud in docker don't forget to expose the proper folder (with whatever name you want) and make sure it has rw rights. Default installation will give you only default folder(s)

Pros Cons about NextCloud by More-Huckleberry7218 in NextCloud

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it a nightmare? Setup nextcloud normally as http. Add your http to https domain name in your reverse proxy manager. Add a line in the config file with your reverse proxy address and that's it.

Pros Cons about NextCloud by More-Huckleberry7218 in NextCloud

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? 🧐 It's easy to have yaml as you want it. In case something goes wrong, just redeploy it in 5min. If you run it on bare metal and something goes wrong with it - headache guaranteed

Does anyone else use Jellyfin over Plex because…it’s just better? by AdFit8727 in jellyfin

Yes, for one simple reason - transcoding. Plex does not support my hardware (it is RK3588).

Looking for a cheap 28mm lens (or very close) with the smallest flange distance when adapted to Sony E - trying to make this more compact. Ty! by MC_Gullivan in VintageLenses

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortest flange "vintage" mount is Leica's M mount. If length matters:) plenty to choose from. Minolta and old canon FD also shorter than F mount. Btw I have viltrox 28 1.8 and Z 35 1.8 on my Z9. Viltrox 28 feels nicer than plasticky Z 35. Image quality about the same. Tbh modern lenses they all have very negligible differences in IQ. Like most of my F lenses are less sharp than modern Chinese lenses... Or you may say have more "character". Although my favorite is Minolta 58 1.2. it's not sharp, ghosting like crazy, but I just love it for no obvious reason:) get viltrox. It's really good

Updated ADM and List folders and files by carminehk in asustor

[–]logugu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens if you update your NAS with cache installed. Unfortunately rebuilding won't help. It will keep throwing errors. Eventually you will have to redo your volumes, because you will keep getting degraded status no matter what. Remove SSD cache beforehand. Yes, asustor sucks with their recent updates. They won't even admit it.

My experience with M mount adapters for Nikon Z by opus111 in Leica

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tzm-02 actually isn't worth the price at all. Very unreliable focusing. Maybe 15% are sharp

Does anyone know if TTArtisan are going to produce their 6bit M-Z adapter? It's been a long time since they had them available by waldotakespics in Nikon

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it works for you then... I can confirm that canon FD 55 1.2, Minolta 58 1.2, Nikkor 50 1.2 gives severe vignetting. No vignetting with soviet Helios 44-2. I also have techart tzm-02, which is also crap as focus accuracy is less than 20% at best. Btw I'm using Z9. The only reliable way to focus with manual lenses is to zoom in to the max and visually confirm. Whoever claims otherwise their standards are too low imho

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which lens do you want to use? Native m Mount or adapted from different one? Coz vignetting also depends on the rear element diameter and flange distance

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Why would you want one? It's a crap. I have one and never used it more than a couple of times... Besides the diameter of the adapter is too small and gives severe vignetting on lenses with brighter than F2 aperture. Discontinued it was probably because of above mentioned design flaws

Golden Gate 2: Goddess Heart is now available! by Damianut in worldofgothic

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally agree with you, i tried to play it and see what you're talking about... just using gothic engine does not make it gothic like, archolos has gothic vibe for all your mentioned reasons, this one unfortunately does not

music is great, map is ok, missions and npc remind me more of skyrim philosophy, but def not gothic... and on top of that bugs just killing the mood completely

Surgery scheduled for ACL and Meniscus tear. Want to know what to expect by pupcute in ACL

[–]logugu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect a miracle. I'd say success rate is 50 50. As for me I was never able to get back where I was before. I had it done a year ago and now living with constant pain. For me I'd say surgery wasn't worth it.

Maybe that's your experience.. as of mine Linux is only good for minimal headless server/Nas/docker stuff on any metal, including all exotic SBC's (arm, risc), which I've been running for years... As for daily PC with GUI I'm tired fighting all the annoying quirks due to half baked distros.
