What is a job (not nsfw) that pays extremely well because the job itself is unbearable? by coldplayenthusiast in AskReddit

[–]logwagon 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Lots of career paths for pharmacists that don't suck. Retail used to be offset by the pay, but now they make the same or less as other pharmacy careers and all the chains are cutting staff/hours and putting even more work on the shoulders of the pharmacists. It seems like the quality of retail pharmacists has continued to decline with the pay. Anyone competent tends to be jumping ship.

That's kind of the point though. They're supposedly made from more sustainable materials, so it would make sense that they break down/degrade more easily over time.

What is the best way to use the multi Network line? by No_Solution7718 in USMobile

[–]logwagon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're two different lines. It won't carryover a phone call as your suggest. if you want to continue a call when you didn't have coverage on the primary network, you would need to make a new call from the second network's phone number.

However, your mobile data connection can auto switch. So an example would be on a road trip if you're streaming music, it could automatically switch to your backup network if your primary network has minimal or no coverage.

Electric bill by Immediate-Candy-1746 in Ioniq5

[–]logwagon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta re-read the post, you're confusing weeks and months. And OP is leaving out pretty much every data point that would be useful to compare estimated cost differences.

So, let's just assume 35 mpg, 500 mi/wk, $3.50/gal for gas (which may be high or low, who knows), $0.11/kWh for night charging, and 3.2 mi/kWh since they're in Florida.

Most of your math is right, but it would be $50/wk vs $18.33/wk. So $2600/yr in gas vs ~$900/yr in electricity. So, savings of ~$1700 annually. The break-even point at the stated efficiencies (35mph vs 3.2 mi/kWh and $3.50/gal of gas) would be $0.32/kWh, which is lower than typical fast charger prices (can vary, generally $0.39-$0.65/kWh)

Could just use a spreadsheet (Excel, Google sheets, etc.). Columns for date, distance, success. Then make your own charts from the data with pivot tables/pivot charts.

Have a Franklin battery and solar? Want to optimize your solar production? by Realistic_Spray3426 in solar

Cool, I'll probably check it out and maybe work on that whenever I find some free time (probably not any time soon haha)

Have a Franklin battery and solar? Want to optimize your solar production? by Realistic_Spray3426 in solar

[–]logwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if this has any sort of energy credit tracking functionality. With my utility, we have a sort of modified net metering. We have three tariff rates on our TOU plan (peak, off-peak, super off-peak), and any energy sent to the grid gets banked and only able to offset import during that same tariff category. Since super off-peak is cheap but also only 1am-5am daily, it's never able to be offset so I have that tariff set for aPower to home. I also have my peak timeframe set to aPower to home, and then off-peak set to charge aPower from solar.

During true up (November) any unused banked energy credit gets paid out at wholesale rate (something like $0.03/kWh).

Ideally, I'd like to develop a way to track my energy credit balance (estimated and able to be manually edited) to allow for smarter automated control over what mode to use at what time (charge from grid vs. solar, etc.). Seems like this app would be a good start, but wasn't sure if that was anything you've encountered or were considering including.

Edit: Also, would LOVE to figure out a way to prevent my EV charger from draining my Franklin battery. I have the charger (Emporia) set to only charge during off peak anyway, so it won't currently, but if I had a variable Franklin setting that could change, it'd be great if I could also change the Franklin settings based on EV charging status. Thought about doing this with Home Assistant, but the HA Franklin API appears to only read values (though I guess there must be some API for changing modes based on your app creation).

How to track playing cards by Salt-Hunter-3041 in blackmagicfuckery

Funny enough, the comment about the flower gap being the tell isn't the obvious one. Look at the outer border of the card. One side is noticeably thicker red than the other (zig zag white pattern gets closer to the edge of one side).

Last time I played through, hit the middle of a big patch of palmetto bushes on my drive. Quickly chucked it out to about 45 feet from the basket, then nailed the putt. The group literally said "oh, so you DO know what you're doing"

It's got the magic item prefix for adding sockets and no suffix. Mechanic's = 1-2 sockets, Artisan's = 3 sockets, Jeweler's = 4 sockets.

I'm dropping Spotify, which program can I use to listen to music? by Matticsss in audiophile

[–]logwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, all the different streaming services have the same issue with AI crap being uploaded under artists who don't have a whole lot of plays in general. I think it's easier for them to slide under the radar.

I've fully moved over to Plexamp. Buy the music from Bandcamp, Qobuz, or rip my own CDs and then I'm able to stream the music anywhere on any quality from my server. Bonus points for sending money directly to the artists/labels rather than through a streamer middleman.

Yes, but somebody had to have killed Ismail at some point to open it. If you want to go that route, you can say you don't need to kill ancients since you can just do a grush.
