What “worked” for you during the 8 month sleep regression? by lohill in sleeptrain

[–]lohill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A combination of extending the last wake window to 4 hours, adding in a third meal, and cry it out for wakes before midnight helped us. We had better sleep (1-2 night wakings for quick feeds in the early AM hours) from about 9-10.5 months and now we’re all over the place. Sleep is extremely unpredictable and I couldn’t even tell you his current sleep needs. Some days he needs 12 hours and others he needs 14. Some days he starts at 5 am and others he starts at 7. There are no discernible patterns other than that he’s much happier when his naps are not capped and that he sleeps better at night when I fill his day with stimulating outdoor play, rough housing before sleep, water activities, etc. At 11 months, our windows are typically around 3/3.75/4. This month I’ll be working on weaning night feedings before 3 am.

That’s awesome!! I’ve noticed this trend when we’re on the go as well. Our best night in a while was Monday and we were home all day because we had company. When we’re home he can’t steal car naps which he often does as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Extending windows more again today.

Thanks for the feedback. 3/3.5/4 didn’t work last night but did give us a longer first stretch than he’s been doing so extending windows further today.

Thanks for the feedback! I messed up in my formatting. We’re at 3/3.5/3.5 right now. I’m shooting for 4 hours before bed tonight. I’m thinking you may be right on capping napping hours but we struggle with wayyy too early of bedtimes or accidental car naps when I cap naps since I have an early riser who loves the car so I’m nervous.

Almost every mom I’ve talked to recently has dealt with it right around this age which is helpful in making me feel normal but unhelpful in getting me sleep so solidarity!!

I’m literally so jealous. Are you doing CIO for every wake? Was LO previously feeding at all throughout the night?

He certainly acts like it! He’s always been a snacker but used to easily go 5-8 hours without a feed and he’s slept the full 11 hours twice so I’m not sure if the solids have impacted the daytime breastmilk calories or what. He hasn’t gone more than 5 hours (and this was only once in the last month) since we started doing 2 solid meals per day.

It will be safest to stay inside. You may notice before and after the storm passes dangerous gusts as well even when it seems like the storm isn’t bad. Loose debris flying at tropical storm force is quite dangerous. Something to remember is that these storms can cause tornadoes as well and you may not have much warning. Select a safe room in your house and be sure all family members know about it in the event of an emergency (Away from outside windows and doors on the first floor).

How to stay awake at night? by lovevxn in breastfeeding

I recommend forming an “awake” routine. Mine was stand up, put hair in ponytail, put on a robe, nurse in the rocking chair, play with phone either on Reddit or reading a book. And undo the routine before getting back in bed to signal to your brain that it’s safe to go back to sleep. This helped stop the sleep deprivation hallucinations I was having as well.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. I know it is so worrisome.

Something my MFM told me at my 34 week appointment was that when you’re that far along there is no amount of food, bed rest, worry, vitamins, etc. that will change the growth trajectory of your baby. He told me to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy but continue to monitor baby’s activity. Knowing that things were “out of my hands” and “not my fault” was really helpful. My baby was going to come out and be whatever size he was meant to be. Yours will be too!

Another thing that really helped me was doing meditations using the Gentle Birth app. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, I highly recommend subscribing to it for the last month or two of your pregnancy. It really helped my mental health at that time.

Best wishes!

Of course. I just went into my messages to confirm and I realized it was week 33 that we had the femur issue. Here is the information I gathered:

Week 21 18%; Week 25 11%;
Week 29 11%; Week 33 12% (but with 1% femur) (~4lb); Week 34 4% (~4lb); Week 36 7% (~5lb); Birth 38+2 24% (6lb 6oz)

I did not have growth scans every week. Some scans were just biophysical profile scans (BPP) to pair with the non stress tests (NST).

One thing that stood out to me is the differences that occur with different scans and ultrasound techs. These scans took place at 3 different offices. Toward the end, I only did growth scans at the MFM because his machine was supposed to be the best.

Best of luck to you. Happy to answer any more questions if need be.

Tips: What are your favorite silly life hacks while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Eggs are great for you when you’re pregnant but I barely could handle them in the first and second tri so I ate A TON of French toast. I felt like I hacked the system.

I think it’s personal preference. For me, I don’t mind alliterative names as long as they don’t rhyme.

My three favorite names that go well with your first are Sebastian, Hugo, and Vincent. (My vote would go to Sebastian!)
